We are proud to be part of a national movement making a real difference in diabetes prevention 💙

Our program is a proud member of the Diabetes Prevention Alliance led by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). In a recent message from the ADA CEO, organizations across the country are invited to join this important effort highlighting the power of working together to create meaningful change.

We are excited to share that our NDPP staff can be seen in the video as part of this national initiative. It is an honor to stand alongside partners across the country committed to preventing type 2 diabetes and improving community health.

Through our National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP), we remain dedicated to supporting our community through education, lifestyle change, and long-term wellness.

This is what impact looks like collaboration, commitment, and community 💪✨

🌿✨ We’re excited to announce the completion of the HHS Clinic Trail, Na Chat’a Pe — “The Chanting Road” in Tiwa! ✨🌿

This special name reflects the beautiful chants played along the trail, honoring a cultural tradition that connects the Tigua people to our ancestors, the land, and overall health and wellness.

The trail includes 11 signs, featuring a trailhead map and educational stops highlighting native plants and animals, with names in Tiwa and English. It’s a space designed to encourage movement, learning, and cultural connection.

This project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of:

-Star Hisa, Tribal Health Education Outreach Specialist
-Yolanda Armendarz, Health Education Manager
-Miriam Cardenas, Public Health Director
-Walter Morles, Clinic Facilities Manager
-Ray Navarro, Clinic Facility Maintenance
-Councilman Rafeal “Shorty” Gomez
-Rick Quezada, Director of Cultural Preservation
-Richard Hernandez, Tigua Language Preservation Program Coordinator
-Lisa Bustamante, Mellon Grant Project Manager
-Property Management

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this vision to life!

We invite staff and community members to walk the trail, learn about the plants and animals of our region, and enjoy the chants along the way. 🌾🚶‍♀️

💙 Diabetes Alert Day 💙

Do you know your numbers?

Diabetes is a condition where the body either doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t use it properly—leading to high blood sugar levels. Left unmanaged, it can lead to serious health complications affecting the heart, eyes, and nerves.

🩺 Know your risk. Know your A1C.
• Below 5.7% – Normal
• 5.7%–6.4% – Prediabetes
• 6.5% or higher – Diabetes

👣 Early detection and proper management can prevent complications like vision loss, nerve damage, and heart disease.

✨ Take charge of your health:
✔️ Eat balanced meals
✔️ Stay active
✔️ Get regular check-ups

📣 Spread awareness. Encourage loved ones to get tested. Small steps today can make a big difference tomorrow.
