The Compadres Therapy, Inc. therapy horse herd, family and friends were blessed by the sound of music this week. The Balourdet Quartet created the amazing and beautiful melodies for our horse herd as they munched on their evening meal. Also, a blessing for all the horses was provided by the Rev. Dr. Kim Jackson during the incredible evening twilight and the performance from the talented musicians, who are rising stars. Thank you to El Paso Pro Musica, Zuill Bailey and Felipa Solis for providing this phenomenal, SummerFest evening of harmony in nature that soothed our souls. 🎶 ❤️ 🙏 🐎

It is with heavy and loving hearts that we, at Compadres Therapy, Inc. remember Jim Briggs. He was one of our founding Board Members and continued to be a guiding light throughout our 16 years. Jim contributed so much to Compadres with his quick wit, ready smile, sound judgment and masterful craftmanship. He was our North Star and a true teacher for those who would pause and lean into his thoughtful observations about the world around him. In Jim’s words, his better half was Jo Ann, our Stable Supervisor, and we hold her and their family in our herd of hearts. ❤️ 🐎

Compadres Therapy, Inc. honors our University of Texas at El Paso Social Work Interns (2024-2025) – Terenz (BSW), Angel (BSW) and Yolanda (MSW).

We are extremely proud of all three of these individuals for their contribution to the well-being of our participants and the welfare of our therapy horses. Our hats are off to our Social Work Student Interns who have been extremely open to new learning opportunities, flexible and resilient in the fluid environment – especially in different weather conditions, and for sharing their knowledge with us.

Their growth, during this last year, has been amazing to observe as they learned how the horses can be a phenomenal partner in enriching lives through education and experiences. Yolanda, Terenz and Angel are skilled facilitators, and we wish them every blessing and success in their future endeavors. And congratulations to Angel and Terenz who are graduating today with their Bachelor of Social Work degree - well done! 🎉 ❤️ 🤠 🐎

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the United Way of El Paso County along with their corporate sponsors spent the morning with Compadres Therapy, Inc. last Friday. Employees from El Paso Water, Raiz Federal Credit Union and Vantage Bank Texas demonstrated resilience through volunteering, mindfulness and self-compassion by making meaningful connections and healing interactions with our therapy horses.
