Compadres Therapy, Inc. is deeply grateful for the incredible volunteers in 2025 who have supported our participants during their equine assisted services sessions. Their time, care, and dedication have made a meaningful difference in every connection the participants have made with our therapy horses, and we are honored to recognize all our volunteers for their contributions. Thank you for enriching lives with your service.

Earlier this year, we were especially proud to celebrate Jo Ann, who was honored with The Commission of the Yellow Rose of Texas - an honorary commission conferred by the Governor of Texas to recognize exceptional community service by Texas women.

Jo Ann (with the support of Jim and her family) has dedicated more than 35 years to serving individuals throughout the El Paso Borderland region, and her compassion, leadership, and commitment continue to inspire us all. Her calm presence, deep knowledge, and lifelong enthusiasm to horsemanship ensure our horses are healthy, content, and trusted partners in the healing process.

We are grateful for Jo Ann’s continued dedication and heart for service and the lasting impact she has made in our community - especially with health and welfare of our special therapy horse herd. ❤️ 🦄

Congratulations to our Equine Skills Class (Part 1) graduates! 🎉 🐎

During an especially busy holiday season, these dedicated volunteers made time to learn, grow, and connect with each other and with the horses. Exploring the why’s and how’s of equine assisted services alongside these experienced horse folks made for meaningful conversations, hands-on learning, and plenty of smiles.

A heartfelt thank you to Nancy, Damon, Christine, Augusta, and Norma for showing up with curiosity and enthusiasm, and to our wonderful and facilitators; Kim, Martha, Shelby, and Joy - for sharing their knowledge, care, and passion.

We are so grateful for the learning, laughter, and connection that filled this class. Here’s to continuing the educational journey together into the New Year. 💕 ✨

Today is International Day of People with Disabilities, and an impact report from the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) has shed a compelling light on a horse's ability to reach places no other therapy can.

Across the UK, more than 39,000 disabled riders, carriage drivers and equine-assistant learning participants rely on RDA each year.

Fresh research shows just how far that support truly reaches, and why the equestrian community's involvement has never been more important.

Martha and Joy were proud to represent Compadres Therapy, Inc., recently, at the 2025 PATH International Conference in Denver, CO!

One of the highlights was visiting the Temple Grandin Equine Center at Colorado State University in Fort Collins to learn about the latest research in equine-assisted services.

We were also incredibly inspired by the General Session keynote speaker, Dr. Temple Grandin, who shared her Insights into Animal Behavior and Autism. She was so gracious in taking time to chat and answer questions during her book signing.
