DMM Fitness and Nutrition

DMM Fitness and Nutrition I am Doris Martinez, an army wife and a mother of three little children. I couldn’t believe I was not able to do it. So what did I do?

Doris is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist Wellness Coach, Personal and Group Trainer, and Lifestyle Specialist, “Helping women gain energy, feel stronger, and live a balanced lifestyle." I have a Bachelor's degree in Athletic training; I am a Certified personal trainer, Nutrition consultant Certified, TRX Qualified, Holistic Nutritionist Practitioner, and a few more Certf. In 2012 I had a wake-up call when my 7 years old son challenged me to race him up the stairs, Now he is 16 years old. I was depressed and devastated by it, and I was shocked by how out of shape I was. On that day I decided to challenge myself and do something about it, I had enough. With a combination of healthy eating and a strict exercise regimen, I was able to change my life and achieved my goals. I was never a person that liked vegetables, and I enjoyed eating high carb foods. I modified my diet; I started incorporating more vegetables, mainly greens, I moderated and carefully watched my sugar and fat consumption, and minimized “unhealthy” carbs intake. I also started to workout and participated in 5km, 10km, and half marathons around the community. It was not easy, but once I saw the results, I knew I was on the right path, and there was no turning back. Thanks to these little changes I lost 45 pounds in about five months, and I was able to get in the best shape of my life. YOU are capable of doing what I did too. Your body is dealing with:
✔ blood sugar drops

And it creates a cycle of poor sleep → anxiety → fatigue.

Some days motivation shows up.
Some days it doesn’t.
What matters most is showing up anyway.

Hi, I’m Doris from DMM Fitness & Nutrition, and one thing I remind my clients every week is this: strength isn’t built on the easy days. It’s built on the days when you’re tired, busy, or not feeling it — and you still take that first step.

Brain fog. Anxiety. Feeling “off” for no clear reason.

If you’re in your 40s and beyond, this isn’t random—it’s often your body asking for better support.

During perimenopause, hormonal shifts impact your brain, your mood, and your ability to focus. And one of the most overlooked ways to improve it? The food you eat every day.

The right nutrients can help:
✔ support memory and focus
✔ stabilize mood and reduce anxiety
✔ balance blood sugar for steady energy
✔ support your nervous system
This isn’t about restriction—it’s about nourishment.

If you’re tired of feeling foggy, overwhelmed, or not like yourself, this is where to start.

You don’t need luck to change your body.

You need consistency.

The strongest women I coach don’t rely on motivation, perfect timing, or “starting over Monday.”

They rely on habits.

After 40, progress comes from showing up when it’s inconvenient.

Choosing protein when cravings hit.

Lifting when energy feels low.

Going to bed instead of scrolling.

Luck fades.
Discipline compounds.

This week, don’t wish for results.
Build them.

Brain fog during perimenopause is more common than many women realize.

If you’ve been forgetting small things, losing focus, or feeling mentally drained more often, it may not be “just stress.” Hormonal changes, poor sleep, blood sugar swings, and chronic cortisol can all affect how clearly your brain functions.

The good news is there are ways to support your brain and body during this stage — including movement, nutrition, stress regulation, and targeted wellness support.

In this article, we break down why brain fog happens during perimenopause and what can help restore clarity and energy.
