This was a year old placenta.

The mama recently gave birth so we encapsulated her fresh placenta for her and she mentioned she had her older one in her freezer and asked what we could do for her with it.

She received two placenta prints, an umbilical cord keepsake and the powder from the dehydrated placenta.

Velamentous cord insertion (VCI) is a rare pregnancy complication where the umbilical cord attaches to the fetal membranes instead of directly to the placenta. It occurs in about 1% of singleton pregnancies and up to 15% of identical twin pregnancies sharing a placenta.
