UTEP MRC program The MRC program welcomed it's first class in Fall 2010. We graduated our first students in August 2012.

We currently have 38 students in the program and we are accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE).

We are proud to share that Dr. Johana Rocha, Dr. Veronica Estala, and Dr. Chuling Lo from the College of Education are collaborators in the $2.3M HRSA-funded project: “Juntos En La Comunidad: Community‐Driven Rural and Underserved Minority US-MX,” led by Dr. Thenral Mangadu in the UTEP College of Health Sciences. This initiative addresses behavioral health needs in rural and underserved communities while giving students hands-on training and building cultural competency skills. A first-of-its-kind manikin with Down syndrome will help nursing students learn to recognize, diagnose and provide appropriate care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
