Happy Veterans Day 🇺🇸!!!

If you can’t squeeze in a full 30-minute workout during your day, you can divide it into two 15-minute or three 10-minute workouts, and still get the benefits of working out. Being a busy person with a demanding career can take up a lot of your time, thus leaving you without a whole lot of free time. By chopping up a longer workout routine into multiple shorter workouts, you’ll at least be able to squeeze in a couple sets of exercises, instead of having to totally skip your workout of the day because your boss is having you stay late or because you have to take your kids to practice.

If you’re a busy woman in your 30s or 40s showing up to the gym without a plan, you’re likely wasting time and energy. A personal trainer can change that by creating a structured workout tailored to your goals, schedule, and fitness level. With a clear plan, you’ll train smarter—not harder—and stop second-guessing your workouts. Let a trainer handle the details so you can focus on showing up and seeing real results.

Lunchtime workouts might by the solution for you if you just can’t get yourself to wake up early enough to workout in the morning. Look for a gym that’s close to your workplace and don’t forget your gym clothes. And if you happen to work in an area without a gym close by, you can still get an excellent workout by investing in exercise bands and going for a brisk walk or run during your breaks.

Protein is one of the safest and most effective supplements for building or maintaining muscle, but the supplement industry is largely unregulated. A recent Consumer Reports investigation found high lead levels in some protein products—particularly plant-based ones like Naked Nutrition Vegan Mass Gainer and Huel Black Edition. To stay safe, choose reputable brands that undergo third-party testing from USP, NSF, or ConsumerLab.com, which ensure quality and purity standards.

Any good personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach can tell you that the deadlift is among the best exercises you can add into your training program. The main target muscle being the hamstring, but it’s also great for training the glutes, as well as strengthening the core. However, if you have a history of back injuries, it’s totally understandable if you are a bit hesitant about doing deadlifts because they tend to put a good amount of torque on the lower back, which can aggravate past back injuries.

The good thing about the trap bar deadlift variation is the the hands are slightly further back than with conventional and Romanian deadlifts, which shortens the distance from the hips to the hands (known as the moment arm). Also, you’re able to start each repetition with a slightly taller posture, which, again, helps to shorten the moment arm. When these two factors are put together, this means less torque is placed on the lower back, but you’re still able to get a great hamstring workout.

If you’re someone who makes her decisions on what exercises to do as soon as you get to the gym is fine, but it’s not the best way to achieve your fitness goals because a lot of gym goers have their biases, meaning that they’re only going to do the workouts they like. As a personal trainer, I see this all the time, with guys doing a bunch of arm curls and bench presses, and women just doing hip thrusts. While those exercises are great, having a well-designed workout plan from a fitness trainer is more likely to elicit better results because it’s going to have exercises targeting all parts of the targeted muscle region.

Morning workouts are among the best solutions if you’re always feeling too tired to go to the gym after work. This is also a massive win if you’re not a fan of crowded gyms and grumpy people that you typically get with the evening crowds. Try it out for yourself by setting your alarm a little earlier to go to the gym for a quick 30-40 minute workout, two to three times a week — and since gyms are usually emptier in the mornings, you might be able to do your regular exercise routine in less time because you won’t have to wait on equipment to become available.
