Today is World Diabetes Day, 2 of 3 people with diabetes report having high blood pressure or take prescription medications to lower their blood pressure. The lower your blood pressure , the better your chances of delaying or preventing a heart attack or a stroke.

Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death in children, adolescents, and adults younger than 44 years. Drowning is the leading cause of injury death for children 1 to 4 years of age. Following by suffocation, motor vehicle crashes and poisoning.

November is Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month. About 1 in every 4 seniors falls at least once a year, and that’s even more common for people who have Alzheimer’s disease. If someone has fallen, call 911 so they can be checked by a professional.

Ride Safe, Ride Smart! 🚨

Join UMC and the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative for the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Safety Information Fair on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UMC East Clinic, 1521 Joe Battle Blvd.

Free ATV helmets will be distributed to riders under the age of 18 while supplies last. Please note that no off-highway vehicles are permitted at the event, which will be held indoors.

Participate in hands-on demonstrations and learn important off-highway vehicle safety and emergency response tips.

As the region’s only Level 1 trauma center, UMC is dedicated to promoting safe riding and injury prevention to protect our community.
