The VLB Texas State Veterans Homes provide affordable, long-term nursing care for Texas Veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents. Conveniently located across Texas, each first-class facility is designed to enhance quality of life with a clean, caring and dignified setting appropriate to those men and women who have served our country with honor. Ombudsman Resource Information: A long-term care ombudsman helps residents and family members of a skilled nursing facility resolve complaints. Help provided by an ombudsman is confidential and free of charge. To speak with an ombudsman, a person may call the toll-free number 1-800-252-2412.

We recently hosted a special event for our residents at the Ambrosio Guillen TSVH to help raise awareness for breast cancer.

Our hearts go out to all of the women who are battling this devastating disease. Stay strong! ❤

In November, we were honored to join World War II Air Force Veteran Gabriel Malafronte in celebrating his 100th birthday!

The VLB presented him with 100 birthday cards from Texans across the state and a special GLO certificate signed by Commissioner Buckingham.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day special for one of our beloved Veterans! ♥️

Texans, we need your help collecting at least 100 birthday cards to celebrate a World War II Veteran's 100th birthday!

Commissioner Buckingham and the VLB are encouraging Texans statewide to participate in our 100 for 100 program by sending a birthday card to WWII Air Force Veteran Gabriel Malafronte, who will celebrate his 100th birthday on November 10th.

Back in July, ahead of our 20th Anniversary Celebration, the Ambrosio Guillen TSVH was proudly honored with a special county recognition celebrating our legacy of care and commitment. 💙 📄

The El Paso County Commissioners Court issued a formal Resolution recognizing AGTSVH’s excellence, leadership, and enduring contributions to the community.

This prestigious honor is a heartfelt reflection of the compassionate service provided every day by the HMRVSI staff—and their lasting impact on the lives of Veterans and their families. ❤️

Ahead of our celebration on July 18, 2025, the United States Senate, through Senator Ted Cruz, presented our home with a Certificate of Recognition—acknowledging two decades of service, care, and commitment to our Veterans. 💙

This beautiful gesture reminds us that our Veterans’ sacrifices are deeply valued at every level of government.

It may be summer, but we enjoyed a festive Christmas celebration filled with delicious tamales and refreshments with our Veterans here at the Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home!

We were joined by a lovely Texas Tech student volunteer, and the Grinch even made a surprise appearance. Thank you to our amazing activities team for bringing the holiday spirit! 🎁🌞

She was honored to stand with staff and state and local leaders to celebrate 20 years of dedicated, high-quality service to Veterans at the Ambrosio Guillen TSVH.

Our Story

Because the VA subsidizes much of a veteran’s cost to stay at a VLB Texas State Veterans Home, daily out-of-pocket rates are well below average and include the cost of medications for Veterans. Residents can choose between a spacious private or semi-private room based upon availability. Alzheimer’s units at each home provide highly specialized care, including beautifully landscaped, secure courtyards.

Like all VLB programs, the Texas State Veterans Homes are self-supporting and cost Texas taxpayers virtually nothing.
