Good afternoon. I hope everyone is keeping warm in anticipation of tomorrow's election. There will be 116 voting locations where you can cast your ballot. If you or someone you know encounters any barriers, such as inaccessible facilities for individuals with mobility devices or malfunctioning audio booths for those with visual impairments, please contact the elections office immediately at (915) 546-2154. They are establishing a call bank to address any voting concerns. Please note that if you cannot access the voting location due to a mobility impairment, you can request curbside voting. Similarly, if you have a visual impairment, you can request to use an audio booth. Your vote is crucial. Please go out and vote as if your life depends on it, because it does!

Hello everyone, I hope you can join us tonight at 6:30 PM for a live Facebook interview with Tom Handy, a candidate for district #1.

10/17/2024

Good morning, everyone. I hope you can join us later today at 1 PM on Facebook live as we discuss Felix Munoz's platform and perspective on accessibility. He is a candidate for District #5.

10/16/2024

For those interested, our first two candidate interviews on the Empowered Voices platform (Kenneth Bell for district #3 and Wesley Lawrence for district #4) were a great success! Each interview garnered an impressive 400+ views! This high viewership clearly demonstrates that voters want to hear directly from candidates about their accessibility plans. If you're a candidate who wants to highlight your campaign and discuss accessibility, please reach out to us at george@empoweredvoices.us. All interviews will be conducted live on Facebook. Voters with disabilities and their support networks make up a significant segment of our community. We want to ensure their voices are heard on city council! Programming note - our next guest will be Felix Munoz a candidate for district #5 this Thursday at 1 PM.

Good morning, several years ago we advocated that money be allocated to the on-demand program for which at the time had zero funding. The on-demand program allows citizens to call into the city to advise of curbs that need to be modified so anyone that uses a mobility device could travel safely within their neighborhood and get access to a city service. After some time $500,000 was allocated to this program back in 2017! However with the ever increasing rise in product cost I think it's time to revisit this and ask for additional funding! We have started the process to inquire if the city could increase this from 500,000 to 750,000 to account for the increase in product prices, what do you think?
