Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Medical Student Run Clinic

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center of El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine began volunteering their time.

Foster School of Medicine Medical Student Run Clinic is a student-led initiative, which provides medical care to the underserved and uninsured residents of the Sparks, Texas, community. The Medical Student Run Clinic (MSRC) opened its doors in Fall of 2013 where students and faculty of Paul L. The Clinic provides primary health care services to patients of all ages in the Sparks community. The clinic was scheduled to open once a month initially, and is now operating on a bi-weekly (twice a month) basis. Students manage all clinic operations from triage and registration to patient care and discharge under the direct supervision of volunteer physicians. This is a great opportunity for students to practice their medical and Spanish-speaking skills, all while developing a relationship with residents of El Paso by providing an invaluable service to the community.

Our team of expert physicians will be providing comprehensive sports physicals, free of charge, to all students in 6th-12th grade. During our recent collaboration with the Junior League of El Paso, Inc.'s Provisional Project, The EmpowHERment Project, medical students from the Foster School of Medicine were able to provide health screenings and share information about the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Medical Student Run Clinic, which officially opened its doors in 2013 and has provided a space for our medical students to practice their medical skills and Spanish, all while developing a relationship with our Borderplex. 🩺

We wrapped up 2022 with our December Mammogram Drive! This was a 2-day event consisting of breast exams and mammograms for over 30 women in the Sparks/El Paso community. We look forward to our next Mammogram Drive on January 25 & 28!

For more than 9 years, our future health care heroes have dedicated their time to meeting the medical needs of El Paso's most underserved residents.

Serving more than 500 patients each year, 's students and faculty have provided preventive care, treatment, and health education through the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Medical Student Run Clinic. 🏥 For many families, the clinic is their primary and only source of health care.
