“Macehualli Day Laborers” chronicles the grassroots struggle led by indigenous day laborers against Sheriff Joe Arpaio, emphasizing their resilience and community organizing. Through the personal accounts of Jornaleros, the book highlights the cultural and spiritual roots of their fight for dignity and right in the face of systemic oppression, including the controversial SB 1070 law. It serves as both a historical testament and a guide for contemporary movements aimed at countering anti-migrant sentiments, drawing connections between past and present struggles in the fight for migrant justice. /
