Last week, Borderland Health Services held our first sit-in to discuss our new Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) machine. The purpose of the sit-in was to train our staff on how to properly use and explain this new technology to patients. Here are a few key points:
- TMS is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic stimulation to treat depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders.
- The FDA has approved the use of TMS for depression, OCD, and smoking cessation. However, it shows promising signs of treatment for ADHD, PTSD, Alzheimer's, and more.
- Most insurances require indications of medication-resistant depression before approval.
- Each treatment session lasts only 19 minutes, and patients are able to drive and work immediately after.
-Patients must commit to 32 sessions across 6 weeks.
We would like to thank everyone involved and BHS for making this possible!
