The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, El Paso

Provides high-quality, accessible, and integrated mental health care for the military community.

Veterans, active duty service members (with a TRICARE referral), and military family members can receive services addressing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, sleep problems, adolescent behavioral issues, relationship and family stress, etc. individually and together in the same place, at the same time, with the same treatment team. Services are provided by credentialed staff trained to work specifically with the military population. The Cohen Clinic at Endeavors can also provide case management support and local referrals to help with education, employment, financial assistance, housing, and legal issues.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Karina L. Bocanegra as the new Clinic Director of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, El Paso.

A few highlights about Dr. Bocanegra:
• She is a proud UTEP graduate and native El Pasoan.
• She is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist–Supervisor with more than 10 years of experience in the behavioral health field.
• She is bilingual in English and Spanish and has extensive experience in EMDR and Crisis Response Planning.
• Her research on Hispanic soldiers and substance use was recognized by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy’s Minority Fellowship Program.
• She comes from a military family and is deeply committed to serving service members, veterans, and their loved ones.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Bocanegra leading our clinic and serving the El Paso community!

The Cohen Clinic’s new home is now part of a state-of-the-art facility designed to help the military community - and the community as a whole - thrive in many aspects of their lives. The Cohen Clinic at Endeavors is recruiting for Parenting STAIR (PSTAIR) — a program designed to help military-connected moms strengthen bonds with their children and manage behavior more effectively.

We’re seeking moms who are:
- Service members, veterans, or spouses
- Parenting a child ages 2–10
- Able to complete sessions in English
- Have experienced past trauma or stress
- Available for 12–16 weekly sessions

Our team led an art session focused on mindfulness and camaraderie - reminding participants that creativity can be a powerful tool for connection and mental well-being.
