El Paso Child Guidance Center

El Paso Child Guidance Center Since 1954, we have provided our community effective, efficient and compassionate mental health care. No client is ever turned away due to an inability to pay.

Our Mission
Improving the health and well-being of children and families in a safe environment through mental health services, education, and awareness. Our Vision
Transforming the Borderland by advancing mental health to foster healing and a stigma-free environment. What we do
Since 1954, we have provided our community effective, efficient and compassionate mental health care. The Center serves anyone ages two to adulthood who is experiencing mental health challenges. Mental Health starts with ME. When you take the first step, the El Paso Child Guidance Center harnesses the power of WE in wellness, and provides clients a complete mental healthcare team tailored to their needs. As a team, together, our clients are provided effective, efficient, compassionate wrap-around care, never the run-around. The Center provides coordinated mental wellness, prevention, therapy, and psychiatry. Our highly trained, multidisciplinary team of therapists, professional counselors, clinical social workers, psychiatrists and care coordinators are ready to help you begin your journey to mental wellness. You are not alone on this journey to healing. We offer in-person and telehealth appointments. The Center accepts Medicaid and most private insurances. Services are also provided on a sliding scale based on a family’s income. Grant-funded services are sometimes available for those without insurance and who cannot afford payment.

💙Knowing the difference between 988 and 911 is critical to make sure you get the support you need.💙

💬 Call or text 988 for mental health crises, emotional distress, or when you or someone you love needs support right away.

📞 Call 911 for emergencies that require immediate police, fire, or medical response.

Both are there to help—but knowing which one to use ensures you get the right kind of support at the right time.

A traumatic event is any frightening, dangerous, or violent experience that threatens a child’s life or body. Even witnessing a loved one’s safety being threatened can leave lasting trauma. Trauma isn’t always about what happened — it’s about how unsafe it felt. Visit the link below to learn more.

Trauma can leave invisible threads in our minds. During a traumatic event, anything connected to that experience may become linked to the memory—even without us realizing it. This isn’t a conscious choice; it’s the brain’s way of staying alert for danger. That’s why reminders can show up in unexpected ways, and sometimes we don’t even see the connection between what’s happening now and what happened then. Healing means gently untangling those threads.

✨ EPCGC End-of-Year Celebration Recap ✨

We wrapped up the year the best way possible—together! 💙 Our EPCGC team gathered for an afternoon filled with laughter, connection, and celebration, reflecting on an incredible year of service and teamwork.

The fun included:
🎉 An Ugly Sweater Competition where staff got to shimmy, shake, and strike a pose
❄️ Winter Olympics Relays that brought out our competitive spirit
✂️ A creative Snowflake Decorating Contest
🎁 A laugh-filled White Elephant Gift Exchange

And of course, none of this would have been complete without the amazing support of our community partners. A heartfelt thank you to and for providing a delicious lunch, and to for keeping everyone refreshed with drink donations.

We are also incredibly thankful to for hosting us and providing the space to come together and celebrate as a team.

Most importantly, this time together allowed us to celebrate our amazing staff—their dedication, compassion, and commitment to serving our community every single day. We are truly grateful for this incredible team and all that we continue to accomplish together.

Here’s to closing out the year with gratitude and stepping into the next one refreshed, connected, and ready to continue serving our community. 💫💙

“The stages of grief aren’t linear. Grieving isn’t just about losing a loved one—it can mean losing a job, a relationship, or even parts of yourself as you grow and change. It’s okay to feel deeply and move through these shifts at your own pace. Healing takes time.”

Congratulations to our partners at La Mente Behavioral Health on celebrating their 5-year anniversary! We were honored to join them at today’s Open House and tour the expansion of their Lower Valley clinic. We’re proud to stand alongside them in our shared mission to provide mental health services to children and families across the Borderland.

"The holidays are often seen as a time of joy and family, but let’s not forget those who are grieving, struggling mentally, financially, or emotionally. This season, let’s pause, show kindness, and remember that what we have, others may not. A little compassion can go a long way.” 💛
