📢 Program Update: 988 Tribal Response Program

As of 12/31/2024, the 988 Tribal Response Program will officially conclude, and this page will no longer be active. While we will miss hosting outreach events and collaborations with our community, it’s important to remember that these activities were not the primary goal of this grant.

The core objective was to create a sustainable crisis response system for our tribal community, and we’re proud to share that these services will continue to operate beyond the program’s closure.

Moving forward, all questions, communication, and support can be directed to the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Tradition Not Addiction and Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Health Education Program, which will oversee the continuation of these critical services.

If you have any questions or need further assistance before the program’s conclusion, please feel free to contact our offices.

Thank you for your unwavering support in helping us build a lasting foundation for crisis response in our community. We are confident that these efforts will continue to make a meaningful impact.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Breakfast with Native Santa, held at the Concho RESpECT gym. We had a really great turnout, from the young to old. We wanted to hold this event for the families in our communities, to give them a chance to spend time with each other during this holiday season.

It was good to see the interaction between the kids and their moms, dads, aunties, uncles, grandparents and friends. There was plenty of food for everyone, cooked up by our volunteers. Everyone enjoyed the eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast sticks, yogurt and juice.

We hope everyone enjoyed their day. We were blessed to hear the distinguished Dr Henrietta Mann, tell stories of what it was like growing up in the Hammon community during Christmas time. She said that it felt good to see our tribal families having a good time while at the event.

We would like to give a special "Thank You" to our volunteers who helped set up, cook, serve and clean up for the event. We couldn't have done it without each and everyone of you. We would also like to thank the CHR Program, Food Pantry, Tradition Not Addiction, M-Power, Cheyenne Arapaho Youth Council, IHS and their staff members who showed up to make it all possible, including their donations.

Also thank you to our MC for the day, David Levi. He kept the event moving and was welcoming to all who were in attendance.

All in all, it was a good time well spent with all the families, from our different communities. We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Cheyenne and Arapaho 988 program and staff.

Merry Christmas!

As we gather this holiday season, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and unity of our Cheyenne and Arapaho people. Christmas is a time to honor family, traditions, and the values that bind us together. Whether it’s sharing meals, exchanging stories, or giving back to our communities, let us carry on our traditions and cultures; and the spirit of love and generosity in all we do.

May this season bring peace to our hearts, and warmth to our homes. Prayers for strength and comfort for those mourning, or grieving, and blessings to all.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and blessed Christmas!

From our hearts to yours,

✨The Prevention Team✨

Important Announcement: The 988 Tribal Response Program is Coming to a Close

On December 31, 2024, the 988 Tribal Response Program will officially conclude its operations. For nearly two years, we have worked tirelessly to provide crisis response services, connect our community members with vital mental health resources, and build a culturally competent support system for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes.

This program was made possible through a SAMHSA grant awarded to the Dept. of Health, and we are proud to have met our goals of raising awareness about 988 and strengthening our tribal crisis response system.

Starting in 2025, all 988-TRP crisis response services, referrals, and cultural competency efforts will transition into the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Health Education Program. Additionally, any correspondence will be forwarded to the Tradition Not Addiction Program to ensure a seamless continuation of services.

We are deeply grateful for the trust, support, and engagement we’ve received throughout this journey. Thank you for standing with us to create a stronger and healthier community.

For updates, resources, and information moving forward, we encourage you to connect with the Health Education Program and the Tradition Not Addiction Program.

If you have questions or need assistance, please reach out before our final day on 12/31/24.

Thank you,
The 988 Tribal Response Program Team
