Challenging behavior is often a form of communication. When a child doesn’t yet have the words or skills to express their needs, their behavior may be the way they show frustration, seek attention, escape a difficult task, or request something they want. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) focuses on understanding the “why” behind a behavior by carefully observing what happens before and after it occurs. By identifying the function of the behavior, our ABA therapists can teach more effective and appropriate ways for children to communicate their needs, build important life skills, and reduce behaviors that may interfere with learning or daily life. 💙
