Before you start to demand that you only want deep tissue massages, let's talk about pressure in deep tissue massage. While effective, there's a point where "more" isn't always "better." Consistent, overly aggressive pressure can potentially desensitize muscle tissue, making it less receptive to future therapeutic work.

Beyond desensitization, improper deep tissue techniques carry risks: from excessive bruising and extended post-massage soreness to, in very rare cases, more serious issues like muscle strain or nerve irritation.
