🐿️ Monday Feb 2 is Groundhog Day! What do you want Punxsutawney Phil to say? Vote below:
❤️ = More Winter FITF
👍 = Early Spring 🌸

📊 Phil’s track record? Not great…
He’s only been right 39% of the time since 1887 — worse than a coin flip! Over the last 10 years, he’s dropped to just 30% accuracy.

📜 The tradition began in 1887 when folks in Punxsutawney, PA made their first official trek to Gobbler’s K**b. German settlers brought the custom from Europe, where they used badgers and bears to predict the weather on Candlemas Day (Feb 2).
🍖 🍽️ Here’s the part they don’t tell you: They use to EAT HIM!

In the 1880s, the Punxsutawney Elks Lodge considered groundhog a delicacy! They’d host a groundhog hunt followed by a picnic featuring groundhog dishes and a “groundhog punch” made with vodka, milk, eggs, and orange juice. Phil went from the menu to the main attraction!

🗳️ As a meteorologist, I can confirm Phil is NOT my competition.
🎥 But it sure is fun to watch at the huge morning party!

✅ Triglycerides vs Cholesterol (High-yield, easy)

🟠 Triglycerides (TG) = “Energy Storage Fat”

Main job: Stores extra calories for later
Made from: Excess sugar/carbs + alcohol → converted to TG
Where stored: Fat tissue
High TG causes:
• High carbs/sugar 🍚🍰
• Alcohol 🍺
• Obesity, diabetes
• Hypothyroid, pregnancy
Risk when high:
• Pancreatitis (very high TG > 500–1000 mg/dL)
• ↑ Heart disease risk

✅ Mnemonic: TG = “Too much Glucose” → Triglycerides

🟡 Cholesterol = “Cell + Hormone Builder”

Main job: Builds cell membranes + makes hormones + bile + vitamin D
Types:
• LDL = Bad → deposits plaque in arteries
• HDL = Good → removes cholesterol from arteries
High cholesterol causes:
• Genetics (familial)
• High saturated/trans fat 🍟
• Hypothyroid, kidney disease
Risk when high:
• Atherosclerosis → heart attack / stroke

✅ Mnemonic:
LDL = Lousy (clogs vessels)
HDL = Helpful (cleans vessels)

🔥 Super simple difference

✅ Triglycerides = Fat storage (calories)
✅ Cholesterol = Building material (cells + hormones)

When people question vaccination because it's "not natural"...

Let me tell you, there's nothing natural about whooping cough bacteria invading a tiny, defenceless body.

Nothing natural about watching your baby’s face turn blue as they gasp for air, or the mechanical hum of an ECMO machine keeping them alive.

Nothing natural about a newborn being poked with needles and tubes in an intensive care unit, and there is certainly nothing natural about burying your child before they have even had the chance to smile.

You know what IS natural?

Protecting your baby!

A parents love for their child is the most natural thing in the world, and because we love them, most of us choose to protect them💙

I don’t understand how they don’t have to show proof that they belong to whatever that church is and where . Even in Md they just sign and it’s approved 😡😡

Vaccination rates among N.J. children continue to fall — data from the state Department of Health shows 24,962 kids skipped vaccines for religious reasons during the 2024-25 school year, a nearly 25% increase from the previous year.
