Why do statins make your muscles hurt?

A lot of people take statins to lower cholesterol. They’ve helped millions.
But muscle pain is one of the most common complaints.

For a long time, we didn’t fully know why.

Now we’re starting to understand…

Statins may interfere with how your muscles produce energy. When that system isn’t working well, muscles can feel sore, weak, or fatigued.

So if you’ve felt that, it’s not “just in your head.”
