Not all hearing appointments are created equal.

A meaningful hearing evaluation is not just about checking boxes. It is about understanding how you hear in the real world.

At Show Me Hearing Consultants, we focus on:
• Thorough testing
• Clear explanations
• Personalized recommendations
• Time to answer your questions

You deserve more than a quick screening.

You deserve answers.

One of the most surprising things about hearing loss is how gradual it can be.

Most people do not wake up one day unable to hear. Instead, they slowly start missing pieces:
• Asking people to repeat themselves
• Feeling exhausted after conversations
• Thinking others are mumbling
• Turning the TV up a little more each year

Your brain works incredibly hard to fill in the gaps.

If any of this sounds familiar, a hearing evaluation can provide answers and peace of mind.

Sometimes reassurance is just as important as treatment.

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month ❤️

Hearing connects us to the moments that matter most — laughter, music, conversations, and the people we love.

At Show-Me Hearing Consultants, we believe hearing healthcare should be personalized, thorough, and never rushed. This month, we’ll be sharing tips, education, and resources to help our community hear and communicate their best.

Because better hearing does not just change what you hear.
It changes how you live.

Most people think hearing aids are just programmed on a computer and sent out the door.

They’re not.

What you’re seeing here is a probe microphone. It’s a tiny measurement tool that sits in the ear canal while we test how your hearing aids are actually performing in your ear.

Because here’s the truth:

Every ear is different.
Every hearing loss is different.
And “first fit” settings are just an estimate.

With probe microphone measurements, we can:
• Make sure soft sounds are audible
• Make sure speech is clear and comfortable
• Make sure louder sounds are not overwhelming
• Verify you are getting exactly what you paid for

This is how we take the guesswork out of hearing aids.

This is how we make sure they don’t end up in a drawer.

At Show-Me Hearing Consultants, we don’t just fit hearing aids.
We measure. We verify. We get it right.

Because better hearing should never be a guess.

Let’s talk about something most people have never heard of

Real ear measurement

This is how we make sure your hearing aids are actually doing what they’re supposed to do

We place a tiny microphone in your ear
and measure sound while your hearing aids are in

Not guess
Not estimate
Measured

It is the gold standard in hearing care

But it is not used as often as you might think

For us
it is not optional
it is essential

Without this step
you are hoping your hearing aids are programmed correctly

With it
we know

And that is often the difference between
hearing aids that sit in a drawer
and hearing aids people actually wear every day

Many people come to us after trying hearing aids that just didn’t work for them

In most cases
it is not the hearing aid
it is how it was fit

Hearing care is not one size fits all
and it should never be treated that way

At Show Me Hearing Consultants
we use real ear measurement to verify that your hearing aids are precisely matched to your ears

Not estimated
Not approximated
Measured

It is a level of care that is often overlooked
and it is the difference between hearing aids that sit in a drawer
and hearing aids that truly improve your life

If you have been disappointed before
there is usually a reason
and it can often be corrected

Hi, I’m Dr. Sarah Cary, owner and Audiologist at Show-Me Hearing Consultants. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about why this clinic exists.

Show-Me Hearing Consultants was built on the belief that hearing care should feel different. More personal. More thoughtful. Focused on you, your lifestyle, and what actually matters in your everyday life, not just a device.

We take the time to truly understand your hearing and make sure any solution is carefully fit and verified so it works in the real world, not just in a quiet room. That level of care matters, and it’s something we are committed to every single day.

As a mom of four, I understand how important it is to stay connected to the people and moments that mean the most. Whether that’s enjoying music, hearing your grandchildren’s laughter, or having easy conversations with friends, those are the things we are here to protect and support.

If you’ve been putting off having your hearing checked, or just want a place that will take the time to do things right, we would love to meet you.

We’re here, ready for a coffee and a conversation to see how we can best help you.

March Madness is officially here! 🏀

Did you know the odds of creating a perfect bracket are about 1 in 9.2 quintillion? You’d actually have better luck winning the lottery twice than predicting every game correctly!
One of our patients recently told us she picks her teams based on favorite mascots and colors, and honestly, that sounds like the most fun way to do it. 😆

Who are you rooting for this year? Drop your pick below and let’s see who gets lucky!

If you live with tinnitus, you’ve probably heard someone say, “Try cutting back on caffeine.” But a lot of times, no one explains the why behind that advice.

Here’s what I tell my patients: caffeine can raise blood pressure and cause your blood vessels to tighten a bit. For some people, that may mean less blood flow to the inner ear, and that can make tinnitus more noticeable.

That said, I also see the other side. If you’re a regular coffee (or energy drink) person, cutting back too quickly can trigger withdrawal headaches, irritability, fatigue, and stress, which can make tinnitus feel louder.

If you have tinnitus, have you ever experimented with reducing caffeine (even gradually)? I’d love to hear what you noticed. Did it help, not change a thing, or make it worse at first?

In March 2022, the World Health Organization shared something important: hearing loss is increasing among young people ages 12–35. 🎧

To help protect hearing at concerts and other loud events, they introduced new safety standards focused on keeping sound enjoyable without causing damage… things like limits on overall volume, monitoring sound levels, improving acoustics, offering hearing protection, providing quiet rest areas, and making sure staff are trained on safe sound practices.

The goal is simple: help people enjoy live music AND protect their long-term hearing health.

Do you have any concerts coming up soon? Tell us in the comments! 👇
