September is Recovery Month! It’s ✨our✨ time. The Southern Illinois recovery community has so many incredible things planned this year. We’re excited to be a part of it all. 💜

We wanted to kick off Recovery Month by asking all of the Recovery Support Specialists at Egyptian Health Department to share what made their recovery possible. They were so generous, brave, and honest. When people with lived experience recover out loud, it makes recovery more possible for everyone.

Thank you Matt Shaffer, Haley Smith, Chris Dennis, Kiesha Fromm, Kat Southard, Kindra York, Shyla Hernadez, and Madison Golden. Special thanks to Zaden Dennis for filming and creating this video for us!

Recovery is for everyone. Every person. Every family. Every community.💜

What a wonderful Overdose Awareness Event! #12 is in the books✅ (and our largest turnout yet!)💜

We would like to thank every one who came out, had a table, sat on our panel and most importantly-- everyone that showed love, compassion and hope. We miss those that are no longer with us and hugged those who were here living in recovery a little tighter. This event is to not only raise awareness on the important issue of overdose and addiction, but to also be a beacon of hope for those still struggling. We see you and we want to help you.

If you, or someone that you love, struggles with addiction, our community is here and we would love to see you and help through all the trials and tribulations recovery brings. Recovery would look so good on you!

At the end of the event, Marlene Banks asked everyone in recovery who is working in the field to please stand. It was a moment that brought chills to everyone in the room. Recovery is possible. Recovery is for everyone.💜

Special thank you to our panelists:
Dr. Michael Blain, MD, Christopher Rural Health Planning Corporation
Bradley Bullock, Director Adult Criminal Justice and Treatment Services, TASC
Chris Massey, Program Coordinator, SIU Medicine
David Duffy, Person with Lived Experience
Maddi Henderson, Person with Lived Experience
