I first got the idea of an outpatient Interventional Center for vascular and oncology while working at St Louis University. That was where we performed one of the first prostate artery embolizations for prostate enlargement in 2013. That was where we started using the wrist approach for embolization of tumors and for revascularization in peripheral artery disease because it was safer than going through the groin which makes it ideal for an outpatient setting. I wanted to establish a full-service outpatient center equipped with the most advanced imaging to evaluate and treat patients with cancer, vascular, veins, pain, and a wide array of health conditions. We built RJIR Vascular and Oncology Center in Elgin and Rockford Illinois, a first of its kind in the midwest. We have readily available a complete Cath lab, equipped with the most updated navigation and 3-D guidance software, CT scan, ultrasound machine, and ABI machine. We have a hot lab where we store Yttrium Y90 for liver cancer treatment.
1. Cancer: Chemoembolization and Radioembolization of liver tumors, CryoAblation, Microwave Ablation of tumors, Biopsy, and Mediport.
2. Vascular: nonhealing arterial ulcers; below the knee and ankle revascularization.
3. Vein disease: radiofrequency ablation, Venaseal, and phlebectomy
4. Chronic pain: Cryoablation and Radiofrequency Ablation of painful bone and soft tissue metastasis. Men’s Health: Prostate Embolization for enlarged prostate.
6. Women’s Health: Fibroid Embolization for symptomatic fibroids.
