Please join us in welcoming, Haven Winter, LSW

Haven is a Licensed social worker with a strong background in therapeutic work with children, adolescents, and adults. He brings specialized experience in LGBTQ-affirming care, substance use treatment, and building effective communication and relationship skills. Haven is a thoughtful and adaptable professional recognized for mentorship, leadership, and collaboration. He is grounded in integrity, empathy, and is genuinely committed to supporting others.

A few fun facts to get to know Haven better:

"If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?"
The BBQ Chicken Bacon Cheddar Ranch pizza from Dimo's Pizza.

"What's a passion or hobby you've always wanted to pursue but haven't yet?"
I collect vintage glassware and have always wanted to learn glassblowing.

"What's your current pet's name and their most hilarious secret talent?"
I have a cat named Sailor and a dog named Erin. Sailor's talent is being the queen of the house, and Erin is part New Guinea Singing Dog, so her secret talent is her unique vocalizations.

"If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?"
My superpower would be flight, and I would use it to make hiking and traveling to unique places easier.

Did you know that 3 in 5 Americans report their mental health is negatively impacted by the holidays? For individuals living with a mental illness, research shows that 64% report their conditions worsen around this time.

As the season gets into full swing, it's crucial to acknowledge this common reality. Added stress from family expectations, financial burdens, and busy schedules can easily worsen symptoms of depression, anxiety, or a substance use disorder.

Four Ways to Prioritize Your Well-Being:
1. Listen to Your Feelings: Don't ignore or minimize your stress. Acknowledge what you are feeling without judgment.
2. Connect with Community: Reach out to people who lift you up, scheduled connection helps.
3. Use Caution with Substances: Be mindful of alcohol and drug use, as they can temporarily mask feelings but often worsen underlying mental health conditions.
4. Know When to Seek Help: If stress feels overwhelming or symptoms are worsening, reach out to a professional or helpline.

Remember: Your mental health is the most important gift you can give yourself this season.
