A note from Jeff Howard:

I remember sitting in the stands in March of 2001. Indiana State was playing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and my son Marcus was out there on the court. A memory I will never forget.

Like any parent, you’re just watching every possession. You don’t relax for a second.

And that night, he had one of those games. He finished with 16 points, hit 4 threes, and was named the Chevrolet Player of the Game. The team ended up losing to Gonzaga, but that didn’t change how I felt watching it.

To this day, that’s the proudest I’ve ever been. Not just because of the points or the recognition, but because of how he played.

He was prepared. He stayed steady the whole game. And he didn’t shy away from the moment. That’s what sticks with you.

When I look at Marcus today, leading the team here at Howard Custom Transfers, I see a lot of the same things.

He shows up ready. He puts in the work. And when it’s time to step up, he does. Different environment, but the same approach.
