A veteran is being laid to rest in our community - and he has no known family. Christopher Emanuel Jones, 63, served in the U.S. Army (1981–1984) and was honorably discharged. He later worked at Grand Victoria Casino here in Elgin. No one who served should be buried alone.

Today we observe National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day, honoring the courage and resilience of American service members who endured captivity while serving our country. Their strength, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our nation will never be forgotten.
