Mr. Aparicio has been located.

*****UPDATE*****

Pedro Aparicio was last seen at his residence in Elizabeth City around 9:00 PM on November 17th. Although he is an adult and not legally required to check in or remain accountable to anyone, it is unusual that he has not returned home and has not reported to work since he was last seen.

Family and coworkers have been unable to contact him, and concerns for his welfare are still present.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office shares the same concern for his safety as his parents do. However, there has been no discovery or indication of any criminal activity.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office is continuing to work with Pedro Aparicio's family to confirm he is in a safe place.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office is issuing an important warning to the community about a new variation of the ongoing jury duty scam that has been targeting local residents. In this latest version, the scammer identifies themselves as “Deputy Daniel Fogg” and uses the phone number 252-376-1993 to contact potential victims.

The caller claims that you must return their call by 5:00 p.m. or an arrest warrant will be issued in your name. This is entirely false. The Sheriff's Office does not operate in this manner, and no legitimate deputy will ever threaten arrest over the phone or demand an immediate call-back.

We want to strongly remind the public that this is a scam, and we urge everyone to stay vigilant. Do not share personal information, send money, or engage with anyone making similar threats. If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and report it to the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office.

Protect yourself and your neighbors—please help spread the word to prevent others from becoming victims of this or any similar scam.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office would like to alert the community ONCE AGAIN about a recent increase in reports of a scam targeting residents.

In this scheme, callers are impersonating law enforcement or court officials, falsely claiming that the recipient has missed jury duty and now faces immediate arrest unless a payment is made. These scammers often sound convincing, using real names of deputies, judges, or court staff, and may even spoof official phone numbers to appear legitimate.

Please be aware — the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office will never call you to demand money, threaten arrest, or request payment of any kind related to jury service. If you miss jury duty, you will receive an official notice by mail or through the Clerk of Court, not a threatening phone call.

We strongly urge residents not to provide any personal information, banking details, or payment over the phone to anyone claiming to represent law enforcement. If you receive a suspicious call of this nature, hang up immediately and contact the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office at (252)338-2191 to verify or report the incident.

Your awareness is your best defense — please share this information with family, friends, and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

Stay cautious and informed. For more details, check the link below to the North Carolina Administrative Offices of the Courts page, which provides information about this scam affecting our area.
