Due to the condition of many secondary roads throughout the county that remain covered in snow and ice, Perquimans County Schools will remain on remote learning tomorrow.
While main roads have improved, many secondary roads are still unsafe for travel, and the safety of our students and staff must come first. All students should follow their remote learning plans, and staff should work remotely as directed by the district plan.
We will continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide another update tomorrow regarding Wednesday’s operations.

Due to remaining ice and snow covering many roads across our area, all ECPPS schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3.

Good afternoon PQ families and staff,

Due to the snowfall, continued hazardous road conditions, and below-freezing temperatures that will continue through the overnight hours, Perquimans County Schools will operate on a remote learning day tomorrow for all students and staff. Safety remains our top priority. Today DOT is focusing on major highways, and most secondary roads will not be cleared until tomorrow.

Students should follow the remote learning plans previously shared by their schools. Staff should work remotely according to district expectations.

A decision about Tuesday will be made tomorrow after we reassess road and weather conditions. We will communicate updates through our normal channels as soon as a decision is finalized.

We encourage everyone to stay home if possible and remain safe. Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation. Have a great day playing in the snow or snuggled inside! We look forward to seeing everyone back at school soon.

ECPPS families, based on the forecast as of this morning, and the increasing confidence that Pasquotank County will receive multiple inches of snow, schools will be closed on Monday, February 2.

Snow is rare and special in our area. So we encourage students, staff, and families to enjoy it safely! Bundle up, play in the snow, and make some memories. ❄️☃️

📌 Important Reminders:
• Chromebooks are being sent home today with students in grades 3-8 (high school students already have devices) in the event school is closed for multiple days. Printed materials will also be provided.
• Before students leave school today, we will be sending home 4 boxed meals to every student in the district. These meals will be provided at no cost and will be given to all students.
• Afterschool activities today (1/30) will continue as planned.

The City of Elizabeth City will open an Overnight Warming Center this weekend to provide a warm, safe place for community members to find warmth and safety during cold weather.

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, January 24–25, 2026
Check-In Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
(Registration is required during this time)

What to Expect:
- Warm, safe indoor space

- Cots and blankets available for rest
