Stigma.
For a long time people were told:
“Just push through it.”
“Talking about it won’t help.”
“Other people have it worse.”
But mental health struggles are real, and support makes a difference.
Therapy isn’t about being “broken.”
It’s about learning healthier ways to navigate life.

Today, we take a moment to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives while serving our country. Memorial Day is not just the beginning of summer or a long weekend; it serves as a time to pay tribute to their sacrifice, reflect on their courage, and support the families who experience that loss every day.

If this day evokes feelings of grief, pride, gratitude, or complex emotions, know that all of those feelings are valid. Take a moment today to remember, connect with loved ones, or simply pause to reflect. We remember. We honor. We thank those who gave everything. ❤️🤍💙

In observance of Memorial Day, Harbor Counseling will be closed on Monday, May 25.
Our office will reopen on Tuesday, May 26.
Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
We pause this weekend with gratitude and remembrance for those who sacrificed.

Summer's almost here, and routines may get more relaxed.
Transitions can be hard for kids, and honestly, for parents too. Mixing some structure with flexibility can really help everyone adjust and hopefully avoid most meltdowns.
As you head into summer, remember to:
☀️ Keep routines steady, especially sleep schedules.
☀️ Balance busy days with downtime; boredom can be good.
☀️ Stay connected, those small, everyday moments matter most. Give kids time to adjust to changes, even the fun ones.
You don’t have to do it perfectly. Just being intentional and present makes a difference.

Now through May 14th, we’re collecting essential items to support survivors served by Albemarle Hopeline right here in our community.
If you’ve been looking for a simple, meaningful way to give back, this is it. Every single item helps create a safer, more supported space for individuals and families during incredibly difficult times.
🧺 Most Needed Items:
• 39-gallon trash bags
• Toilet paper
• Paper towels
• Liquid dish detergent
• Liquid laundry detergent
• Bleach
• Lysol
🎁 Gift Cards (always appreciated!):
• Walgreens
• Food Lion
• Walmart
• Gas cards (WaWa)

People often think therapy is only for “big” problems.
But many people begin therapy because they feel:
• constantly overwhelmed
• emotionally exhausted
• stuck in the same patterns
• struggling with anxiety or stress
• disconnected from people they care about
You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable.
Therapy can simply be a place to:
🌿 process life
🌿 learn coping tools
🌿 understand yourself better
🌿 feel supported

Mother’s Day can bring many emotions.
For some it’s joyful.
For others it can be complicated, exhausting, or even painful.
To the moms carrying a lot right now, here’s a gentle reminder:
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to need support.
You are allowed to take care of yourself too.
Self-care isn’t selfish, it helps you continue showing up for the people you love.
To all the mothers, caregivers, and nurturing figures in our community, we see you and appreciate you. 💙

Kids don’t always have the words to explain what they’re feeling. Sometimes their emotions show up through behavior, big feelings, or withdrawal.
And moms often carry more than anyone realizes.
Supporting mental health means supporting the entire family.
A few reminders today:
• Kids need safe spaces to express feelings
• Moms deserve support, not pressure to “do it all”
• Asking for help is a sign of strength
Healthy families grow when everyone has support.
