Today marks 𝕆ℕ𝔼 𝕐𝔼𝔸ℝ we’ve had the privilege of Macie Thomas serving our community with NPC!! Macie has brought her high energy, practical, no-nonsense approach to our practice. She supports adults, women facing postpartum depression, and teenagers with her deep sense of empathy and understanding, helping clients feel seen, heard, and supported. NPC is grateful for her dedication and the healing impact Macie brings to our community every day 💚

We are excited to announce Teresa White, a Marriage and Family Therapist, is joining our team at Northeastern Professional Counseling!

Teresa White is a Licensed Marriage and Family Associate in North Carolina with over seven years of experience in helping couples and families navigate their relationships. She’s passionate about creating stronger connections and helping families understand their internal dynamics, so they can grow together. Teresa believes in a collaborative approach where everyone has a voice. She focuses on building self-awareness and fostering growth—mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually—within the family unit. Her style is relationship-centered and flexible, meeting people where they are and guiding them on their unique journeys.

With a wealth of experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and the ups and downs of life, Teresa offers compassionate support for those facing life’s challenges. She’s known for being down-to-earth and truly listening to her clients.

When she’s not working, Teresa loves spending time with her husband and children. Her favorite space is outdoors, whether she's hiking, reading a good book, or exercising with her kids. You’ll often find her at a sports field or court, cheering on her children or getting in on the action herself. At home, she enjoys being creative and finding new ways to make her space warm and inviting.

Are you an organized, detail-oriented individual passionate about providing excellent customer service? Our private counseling practice seeks a skilled Office Administrative Assistant to help us deliver exceptional support for our therapists and care to our clients.

Position: Administrative Assistant

Location: Elizabeth City, NC

Type: Part-Time with the possibility of increasing hours – Currently hiring for 8 – 11a Monday – Friday (15 hours)

About Us:
Northeastern Professional Counseling has been voted “Best of the Albemarle” three years in a row, and we continue to grow and expand! We are dedicated to offering compassionate and confidential counseling services to our community. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming environment for both clients and staff. As we continue to grow, we need a reliable and proactive Administrative Assistant to support our daily operations and enhance the client experience.

Responsibilities:
•Greet and assist clients in a friendly and professional manner.
•Manage scheduling for appointments and coordinate with counselors.
•Handle incoming calls, emails, and inquiries with efficiency and care.
•Maintain accurate client records and always ensure confidentiality.
•Perform general office duties, including managing our electronic medical records database and office organization.
•Assist with administrative tasks as needed to support the practice’s operations.

Qualifications:
•Minimum of an associate degree or five plus years experience as an office administrator.
•Proven experience in an administrative role; experience in a healthcare or counseling setting is a plus.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
•Proficiency in Google Docs and office management software.
•Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.

This baby was found on Sunday and is the SWEETEST!! She is between 6-8 weeks old and absolutely loves humans.

As far as I can tell, she’s very healthy - Lots of energy, eats very well, very playful and won’t stop purring.

She already went potty in a litter pan 😁

She needs a home ASAP. I live in a tiny home and I already have two tiny lions 🦁 and cannot keep her.

Please let me know if you or someone you know needs a precious therapy kitten 💛 I happy to help some with start-up expenses.

This morning I awoke to a text that explained someone was really struggling with anxiety and believes it's tied to their past trauma and wanted to know which counselor I thought would be best for them.

Without hesitation, I told her, “Jamie Waugaman, she is the best!"

And she is.

"Best of the Albemarle" is a yearly contest our local newspaper The Daily Advance hosts for businesses across our area.

Northeastern Professional Counseling has won in our field over the last 4 years, and we are so grateful to know we are supporting our community to heal and grow.

This year The Daily Advance scaled the business pool way back and "Best Counseling Practice" was not included in the voting. So, I have no choice but to humbly brag about the therapists in our practice 😁

Jamie is easy to brag about.

Four and a half years ago, Jamie joined NPC and has shown to be one of the most passionate and committed therapists I've ever met. It is such a privilege to have her at NPC as a community leader in the counseling field and to have her as a friend.

Jamie has been in the field of counseling for 17 years and has been a trauma and addiction specialist for 15 of those years. Her education, love for helping people heal, and dedication to excellence in what she does make Jamie an expert in counseling, especially as a trauma therapist.

She is trustworthy, unwavering in her belief that people can heal, and relentless in her pursuit of offering the highest quality therapy services.

Our community is so fortunate to have her!! ♥️

Living with unresolved trauma is hard. While life offers its many challenges, trying to navigate life while also still holding trauma can make it nearly impossible to thrive.

I must admit, this is one of those truths that STILL makes me (Anna) want to stomp my foot in defiance.

It is NOT in my nature to follow a schedule, be consistent, and never mind doing hard things 🙈

As the youngest of 5 children, I was doted on and allowed to waft through my days doing as I pleased. Add to this disaster-in-the-making that I am a natural free spirit, and it's all kinds of crying when the "self-discipline" subject gets broached.

BUT!

I'm a huge, if not the biggest, advocate of self-love. Not the kind of self-love that aggressively and blindly runs over our fellow humans - that's not self-love at all - that's self-absorbed and living unconsciously.

I'm talking about self-respect, authentic and genuine self-care, taking care of the only human you are forever bonded to until the day you die - kind of self-love.

The key to unlocking the FEELS of self-love is indisputable:

Ｓｅｌｆ-Ｄｉｓｃｉｐｌｉｎｅ

How do you mean, Anna?

I mean this.

We live in a world with massive amounts of information on what is healthy for our mind, body, soul, and spirit.

YET

Raise your hand if you "read all about it," but keep scrolling whilst laying on your couch thinking, "I probably should do that." 😝

I get it.

AND

I Self-Disciplined my way to the gym, the healthy food sections, and the "Your A Badass" bookshelf, and practiced loving the self-loathing right out of me.

It's LOVE WEEK 🥰 and the most loving thing you can do, is put down the phone (after you're finished reading this 😆) and choose to start with one thing you'll do to love yourself.

PSST 🤫: Usually, it's the thing you DON'T want to do 😬
