🧠 Trainer Tip of the Week: Slow Reps = More Muscle

When you slow down a rep, you increase mechanical tension — the #1 driver of hypertrophy. A controlled lowering phase creates more actin–myosin cross-bridge formation, recruits higher-threshold motor units, and boosts time under tension (TUT).

Translation? Less momentum, more stimulus, better results.

Try this: 3–1–1 tempo
3 sec lowering → 1 sec pause → 1 sec controlled lift.

Control the rep. Build the muscle.

Do you skip breakfast? 🥣

Here’s the truth: it’s not automatically bad… but it’s also not automatically smart. It depends on your goals.

✔️ PROS of Skipping Breakfast
• Can help some people naturally reduce total calories
• Works well for those who aren’t hungry early in the day
• May improve consistency if your mornings are chaotic

❗ CONS of Skipping Breakfast
• Often leads to overeating later in the day
• Harder to hit protein + fiber goals
• Can tank energy, focus, and workout performance
• Usually backfires for clients looking to build muscle or improve body composition

So what’s the move?

If your goal is fat loss — skipping breakfast can work, but only if you stay consistent with your intake and hit your protein targets later.

If your goal is muscle gain, strength, or better daily performance — breakfast is almost always a game-changer. A balanced morning meal steadies blood sugar, boosts energy, and sets the tone for hitting your nutrition targets early.

Bottom line:
