We know today has brought a multitude of emotions. Uncertainty. Concern. Reflection. Resolve.

As we move into this new year, let us be clear: the Urban League fights for YOU.

At the Urban League of Union County and the National Urban League, one of our core pillars is . That commitment is not symbolic. It is active, ongoing, and deeply rooted in our responsibility to protect the rights, voices, and dignity of the communities we serve.

Whether it is our work here at ULUC, alongside our New Jersey affiliate partners, or in collaboration with all 92 Urban League affiliates across the country, know this: we will continue to show up. We will continue to advocate. We will continue to organize and mobilize at both the local and national levels. ✊🏿

This work does not pause. Our mission does not waver. Our communities deserve nothing less.

We remain steadfast. We remain accountable. And we remain committed to fighting for justice, equity, and democracy, today and every day.

Happy New Year from the Urban League of Union County!

We are back in the office and ready to serve as we move into the first full work week of 2026. As routines begin to settle in, know that our team is here and our doors are open.

The Urban League of Union County works to empower African Americans and other underserved residents through programs focused on economic stability, education, housing, health, and overall quality of life.

Our work is supported and amplified by our auxiliaries, including the Trenton Guild and the Urban League of Union County Young Professionals, who help drive community engagement, service, and leadership throughout Union County.

As we step into a new year, we look forward to continuing this work with our community and welcoming new supporters along the way. Visit our website to learn more about our services, auxiliaries, and how to stay connected.

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to say thank you. ❤️

This year, because of our community, partners, funders, volunteers, and supporters, the Urban League of Union County continued to do what we have done for 81 years, show up with purpose. We expanded workforce and reentry programs, invested in housing and financial empowerment, supported families, and created space for connection, growth, and opportunity across Union County.y

We were grateful to receive new and continued grant support that allowed us to deepen our impact and meet real needs in real time. Those resources turned into programs, services, and support for individuals and families navigating uncertain moments.

2025 also marked 81 years of service. Eighty-one years of advocacy, resilience, and commitment to economic self-reliance and civil rights. That legacy lives in the people we serve and the work we carry forward every day.

As we prepare for a new year, including the next phase of growth in our renovated office, we’re building with intention. Strengthening our foundation. Planning for sustainability. And positioning our organization for the future our community deserves.

If you supported us this year in any way, thank you. Your time, your trust, and your generosity matter.

As we close out the year, there is still time to give. Your gift helps ensure this work continues into 2026 and beyond. Donations of any size make an impact.

Thank you for being part of our story. Thank you for believing in our mission. And thank you for helping us move forward, together.

Happy Kwanzaa from the Urban League of Union County!

As we continue this season of reflection, community, and collective care, we extend warm Kwanzaa wishes to our neighbors, partners, and supporters.

Kwanzaa is a cultural celebration observed from December 26 through January 1 that honors African heritage, unity, and shared values. Created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa centers seven guiding principles, known as the Nguzo Saba, that encourage reflection, action, and recommitment to community.

• Umoja (Unity) – striving for and maintaining unity in the family, community, and nation.

• Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) – defining ourselves, naming ourselves, and speaking for ourselves.

• Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) – building and maintaining our community together and solving our problems collectively.

• Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) – supporting and uplifting businesses within our community and sharing in their collective success.

• Nia (Purpose) – committing to the collective work of building and developing our community to restore its greatness.

• Kuumba (Creativity) – doing what we can to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

• Imani (Faith) – believing in our people, our leaders, and the righteousness of our struggle.

As we honor these principles, we also want to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us for our Annual Angel Tree and Holiday Celebration last week. The outpouring of love, generosity, and community spirit was felt by every family we served.

We are especially grateful to the Housing Authority of the City of Elizabeth for partnering with us and helping bring Santa to life for our children, and to Mount Teman AME Church for their continued hospitality and support in hosting this celebration. We also extend our sincere thanks to the many individual donors whose generosity made this event possible. Your willingness to give is a powerful reflection of community in action.

May this Kwanzaa be a time of reflection, renewal, and recommitment to unity, service, and collective care. ❤️💚🖤

Merry Christmas and happy holidays from all of us at the Urban League of Union County

As we close out the year, we want to thank our supporters, partners, donors, and community members for standing with us throughout the year. Your trust, engagement, and generosity make it possible for us to continue serving our neighbors and advancing opportunity across Union County.

In the spirit of rest and renewal, our office will be closed for the holiday period to allow our team time to recharge and be present with their loved ones. We look forward to reconnecting in the new year when we open on January 5, refreshed and ready to continue the work.

Wishing you a season filled with peace, rest, and joy, and a strong start to the year ahead. ❤️🤍

The celebration continues as we proudly recognize another one of our own.

Please join us in congratulating Dwight Bostic, Social Worker with the Urban League of Union County’s Reconnections Program, on being honored with the Father of Resilience Award by the Union County Fatherhood Initiative Coalition!

Since 2011, our Reconnections Program has supported individuals navigating reentry through housing assistance, employment counseling, life skills development, and long-term stabilization. Dwight’s work within this space reflects a deep commitment to helping individuals rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose, and support.

This award recognizes Dwight’s resilience, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his family, his clients, and the broader community. His work demonstrates what it means to lead with accountability, compassion, and integrity, both professionally and personally.

We are grateful for the impact Dwight continues to make every day. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. ❤️

The spirit of giving continues at the Urban League of Union County, and we are thankful for everyone who has participated in our events and supported our work this year.❤️

As we move through the end of the year, there are two ways you can continue to support our community. Our year-end giving campaign is still underway, and we are also hosting our Hope After Hardship Reentry Donation Drive.

support matters. When individuals return home after incarceration or face housing insecurity, having access to everyday essentials helps restore dignity, stability, and confidence. Our reentry team works every day to ensure people have the resources and support they need to reconnect with their families, their communities, and their future.

If you are able, please visit our Amazon Wishlist and purchase an item for our reentry citizens. Our goal is to have every item on the Wishlist purchased.

If you are not able to give right now, sharing this flyer is still a powerful way to support and spread the word.

Thank you for continuing to show up for our neighbors and our community.

Tonight, we’re looking forward to one of our favorite traditions: the Urban League of Union County’s Annual Angel Tree and Holiday Celebration.

We’ll be celebrating the winter holiday season, including Kwanzaa, while welcoming families as they receive gifts and share in the joy of the season. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our community donors and partners who continue to show up with love and support.

As we prepare for tonight, we’re also reflecting on the Health & Harvest event we hosted just two weeks ago with two-time NFL Super Bowl Champion Jonathan Casillas. From health and wellness to holiday giving, this season truly shows our mission in action- serving our community in many ways, all at once.

This time of year is always busy for the Urban League of Union County, but it’s also deeply rewarding. We are thankful for every partner, sponsor, and supporter who has helped make the 2025 holiday and giving season special for the families we serve.

We’re grateful. We’re energized. And we’re ready for tonight. 🎁
