As RSV season kicks off, it’s vital to remember that even a simple kiss can have serious consequences for the precious infants in our lives. ❌ That’s why we urge everyone to !

🤒 While RSV might feel like just a common cold for adults, it can be incredibly severe for babies. In fact, it’s the leading cause of infant hospitalizations in the United States. (Source: National Institutes of Health (NIH))

💔 Protecting our little ones means being mindful of our actions. If you’re feeling under the weather, consider giving your little one a wave instead of a kiss.

Let’s prioritize the health and safety of our babies this RSV season. Every precaution counts! 💪👣

Expecting parents, let’s talk about gestational diabetes!

Gestational diabetes is a condition that can develop during pregnancy, affecting how your body processes sugar. It's essential to understand that while this may sound concerning, with proper management, you and your baby can stay healthy!

🩺 Why Screening Matters: Regular screening for gestational diabetes is crucial, usually happening between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy. Early detection allows for timely intervention, helping to prevent complications for both you and your baby.

📝 Follow Your Provider’s Guidelines: If diagnosed, follow your healthcare provider’s recommendations closely. This may include dietary changes, physical activity, and monitoring your blood sugar levels. Remember, managing gestational diabetes can help ensure a healthy pregnancy and delivery.

Taking these steps now not only supports your health but also contributes to your baby's well-being. For more information on gestational diabetes, visit https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/about/gestational-diabetes.html.

As the seasons change and we start spending more time indoors, flu, RSV, and COVID-19 are making their rounds in our communities. 😷 The good news? We have effective vaccines available to help protect you and your baby from these illnesses!

🦠 Flu vaccine: This annual vaccine provides crucial protection for both you and your little one throughout your pregnancy.

🛡 RSV vaccine: By receiving this vaccine, you can help your baby build important antibodies to fight RSV once they’re born.

💪 COVID-19 vaccines: These vaccines not only strengthen your immunity against new variants but also significantly reduce the risk of pre-term birth and stillbirth.

Don’t forget to discuss these vital vaccines with your healthcare provider to determine what’s best for you and your baby.

Happy Stress Awareness Day, parents! 🌟

Parenting little ones can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also come with its fair share of stress. Whether it's juggling nap times, playdates, or unexpected tantrums, it's important to recognize and manage your stress for the well-being of both you and your child.

Here are a few tips to help you find your calm amidst the chaos:

😮‍💨 Breathe: Take a moment for yourself. Deep breaths can work wonders!

🤝 Connect: Reach out to friends or family for support. You're not alone in this journey!

🧘‍♀️ Prioritize self-care: Whether it's a quick walk, a warm bath, or reading a book, make time for activities that recharge you.

🕒 Stay organized: Create a simple daily routine to help reduce overwhelm.

Remember, it's okay to ask for help and take breaks. A happy parent means a happy child!

On Halloween, we welcomed Dr. Margaret McGladrey and Dr. Shelby Clark from the University of Kentucky for an insightful focus-group discussion on child abuse and neglect reporting. Their study explores the difference between Mandatory Reporting and Mandatory Supporting — and what a supportive future might look like for Kentucky families.
