In a home-like atmosphere, our interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, aides, and skilled staff members work together to provide compassionate long-term care for those with skilled and intermediate medical needs. ith our resident-centered philosophy of care, we offer a nurturing life-affirming community with a beautiful campus, caring staff, delicious meals, and imaginative activities designed to nurture the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Our residence features round-the-clock care with our nurses available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Registered nurses supervise the dispensing of medication and dedicated aides assist our residents with activities of daily living. Therapists are available to provide individualized short-term rehabilitation services if needed, always with the goal of restoring our residents to their highest level of independence and function. We also serve those who are recovering from a medical condition or procedure and require short-term rehabilitation therapy before returning home. Our nurses and therapists work with the referring physician to ensure the fastest recovery with the best functional outcome. The Elizabeth Sanford Swope Personal Care unit at Helmwood opened in December 2021. This newly constructed unit offers private apartments available at an all-inclusive, flat monthly fee. Our floor plans offer comfortable living space, a kitchenette, and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower. Personal Care communities offer the same social environment and support for independence as Assisted Living Communities, but with the added benefit of licensed medical staff who can provide services such as medication administration and nursing care.

We had the honor of celebrating our incredible dad residents with a special Father’s Day luncheon. We are grateful for the opportunity to show our appreciation for the fathers who have shared so much wisdom, love, and strength throughout their lives. It was heartwarming to see them enjoying the company of family and friends, creating new memories together.

It is with both joy and sadness that we announce the departure of Cindy Clan, our beloved ADON, who has been an integral part of Helmwood for nearly a decade. Cindy's last day with us was yesterday, marking the end of an era filled with dedication, compassion, and excellence.

Throughout her time here, Cindy has worn many hats: starting as a floor nurse, excelling as our Admissions Director, and most recently, leading with grace as our ADON. Her unwavering commitment to our residents and staff has left a lasting impression on our facility.

Cindy has accepted an exciting new opportunity, and while we will miss her dearly, we are thrilled for her new journey. Please join us in wishing Cindy the very best in her future endeavors. Your Helmwood family will always be here cheering you on, Cindy! 💙
