New class up on my website today!

This is a yoga class with the option of adding light hand-weights in.

Why on earth would we want to do that?

Here are a few reasons:

“One of the most striking effects of age is the involuntary loss of muscle mass, strength, and function, termed sarcopenia. Muscle mass decreases approximately 3-8% per decade after the age of 30, and this rate of decline is even higher after the age of 60.” (Source national institutes of health)

Another reason, to put it simply if you are like me, I only have so much time for working out and so it’s nice to combine a few workouts together.

I am LOVING combining light hand weights with classic yoga poses. I can feel my body getting stronger and my balance improving.

If you're just beginning your yoga practice, you may have lots of questions or not really know where to start. As an experienced yoga teacher with over 20+ years of personal practice, I'm going to tell you the main thing I wish I knew when I was a beginner:

I wish I knew how to modify poses! I thought I had to do exactly what the instructor was doing at all times even if it hurt. That is NOT true, and that's not what yoga is about. The key is to discover and honor your own needs.

As an instructor, I teach options for every level.

In my beginner online course, I have taken the top 30 poses that come up in most traditional yoga classes and I created a class for each of those poses. In that 30-ish minute class, I teach you the benefits of the pose, how to get in and out of the pose, and I offer you modifications that might serve your body better. Then we do a yoga flow that incorporates that pose a few times to practice it.

Since we have some new friends here, I thought I would reintroduce myself!

I’m Jen Bonny, a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance accredited teacher. I've spent countless hours reading and researching about the art and science of yoga. I teach and continue to practice yoga regularly.

At 6 pm I will lead a short beginner friendly yoga class.

At 7pm experience the benefits of cold plunging by hoping(or tip toeing;) into the Provo River.

A little bit about my Yoga Journey

I believe that if taught correctly Yoga can help people feel better mentally and physically. I can honestly say that after almost every class I have participated in, and taught I have left feeling stronger physically, and just a happier person. It is my intent to pass this great energy along to each person that comes to my yoga class. I believe that yoga is for everyone. I applaud advanced students for reaching milestones, and I also make sure to give beginners attention and encouragement. It is my goal to have people leave class feeling better than they did when they first walked through the door.

I have been practicing yoga for 16 years. I got my teacher training 3 years ago, and have been teaching several classes a week ever since.
