🦋 "When Love Doesn't Know How to Speak" 🦬
A story that touches the soul...
The butterfly found the buffalo wounded and unconscious, an arrow buried in his side. She gently removed it—and he awoke, startled.
“I don’t need your help! Leave me alone!” the buffalo roared, shoving the butterfly and hurting her in the process.
Wounded and limping, she flew back to the cave where she always cried after being hurt by him.
But once she had healed, she returned—with a medicinal plant to help him.
He kicked her again, this time harder. She collapsed.
“Go away! I don’t want you here!”
Still, she left the plant beside him.
“Buffalo,” she said, eyes filled with tears, “sometimes I think you don’t love me.”
“I don’t! I hate you!” he shouted.
The butterfly dragged herself back to her cave, this time… she never returned.
Days passed. Then weeks.
The buffalo began to feel her absence.
No more gifts. No more gentle gestures. No more warmth.
Only silence… and the dried-up plant she had left behind.
He couldn’t eat. Couldn’t sleep.
He limped to the cave, praying to see her once more.
But she wasn’t there.
Only the echo of what was.
He lay down and cried.
A stone beside him asked:
“Why do you cry?”
“Because… I loved a butterfly. She was joyful, kind, full of light…
But I think I killed her—with my anger, my fear, my silence.”
The stone said:
“Did you ever tell her you loved her?”
“No,” the buffalo whispered.
“I thought it was easier to say I hated her…”
Suddenly, the butterfly emerged from behind the stone.
“Since when do stones talk?” she said softly. “It was me. I’m still alive.”
The buffalo, overwhelmed, cried out:
“I hate you! I hate you!”
…as he held her tightly.
Even then, he couldn’t say I love you.
Because some people just don’t know how.
💚 Reflection:
Not everyone knows how to express love.
Some build walls to hide fear.
Some hurt because they don’t know how to heal.
And some love in silence—through presence, protection, or persistence.
Don’t confuse coldness with the absence of love.
Sometimes, the deepest love hides behind the roughest words.
Learn to listen not just with your ears… but with your heart.
Because love isn’t always spoken.
Sometimes… it’s simply shown.
