Peaceful Hearts Hospice

Peaceful Hearts Hospice Peaceful Hearts Hospice is dedicated to ensuring each client lives life to his/her fullest potential. We provide individualized care with holistic options.

We believe care should be focused on living, quality of life, and leaving a legacy for the future. Why Choose Peaceful Hearts Hospice? Peaceful Hearts Hospice is locally owned and operated by a social worker and two nurses who all have a passion for end-of-life care and experience working directly in the hospice field. Each client has the right to choose a hospice company that best fits his/her needs, and while there are many hospice companies to choose from, Peaceful Hearts Hospice strives to make sure all our clients feel cared for by providing hospice care the way it was intended. All of the staff at Peaceful Hearts Hospice have a passion for providing hospice care and to take care of our clients as if they were our family. Our team focuses on modern medicine, as well as a holistic approach to hospice care, giving our clients multiple options to provide quality and comfort based on individualized beliefs and needs. Peaceful Hearts Hospice believes education and communication is critical and we strive to keep all those involved in the client’s care educated on the disease progression as well as what to expect as the client declines. Not only does Peaceful Hearts Hospice value excellence in client care but we also take pride in treating our staff well, understanding the importance of self-care and appreciation for our health care workers who make all we do possible. Our Mission

Peaceful Hearts Hospice is dedicated to ensuring each client lives life to his/her fullest potential. Peaceful Hearts Hospice believes care should be focused on living, quality of life, and leaving a legacy for the future. Peaceful Hearts Hospice strives to get back to the original roots of the hospice philosophy by providing individualized care with holistic options. Each client is actively involved in determining his/her plan of care. Peaceful Hearts Hospice supports the client’s choices by providing education on the expected terminal disease progression, as well as supporting the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social aspects of each client and everyone involved in his/her life. Our Vision

Peaceful Hearts Hospice envisions a community in which all individuals have a true understanding of the hospice philosophy and those who qualify for hospice receive services in a timely manner. Hospice continues to carry the stigma of “where you go when you are dying,” when in fact the true hospice philosophy is focused on living and quality of life. Peaceful Hearts Hospice will maintain this vision through continual education and by providing quality care to all clients and families. Peaceful Hearts Hospice prays that each person lives a life of gratitude, happiness, respect, love, honesty, self-determination, and faith. Peaceful Hearts Hospice believes everyone should be empowered to lead the life they desire, and most importantly, cherish time spent with family and friends.

Happy 86th birthday to our fun-loving client Bob! Along with his wife Julie and his Peaceful Hearts volunteer Ray, we had such a wonderful time celebrating him at Legato Living at Five Fountains - Elkhorn's Premier Residential Memory Care! 🎉 🥳🎉

Raised on a farm outside Kansas City, Bob’s life has taken him on quite a journey — from the East Coast to Omaha then onto Toronto and then back to Omaha, where he retired at just 56, wrapping up a remarkable career with ConAgra. During his time there, Bob was inducted into the Keebler Hall of Fame — a truly prestigious honor that, as Julie shared, is usually reserved for employees.

Bob — who also owns a collection of Hey Dude shoes — has no shortage of incredible stories. While living in Boston, he once lived in the same cul-de-sac as infamous attorney F. Lee Bailey. “Bob’s stories from that time are just unbelievable,” Julie said.

Hsin-Yi, Holistic Hearts Foundation’s Music Therapist, led the group at singing “Happy Birthday” followed by “Ring of Fire,” a favorite of Bob’s that he sang along to enthusiastically. When asked what his favorite song is, the ever-witty Bob replied, “Happy Birthday to Me!”

“Through it all, Bob has always been fun — always,” Julie told us.

Happy Birthday, Bob — wishing you all the happiness you give others! 🎂🎈🎂

Peaceful Hearts had the absolute honor of recognizing our client Ted at Carter Place for his service in the U.S. Army. 🇺🇸

From 1968–1970, Ted served in Vietnam and earned both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. During a challenging moment, a fellow GI who was overwhelmed by anger and pain, discarded his Purple Heart. Ted quietly saved it, holding onto it ever since as a powerful reminder of the struggles so many carried with them.

We were so proud to celebrate Ted as he was surrounded by family, friends, and Carter Place staff. A special thank you to PHH Volunteer Bob Labedz, who also served in the Army during Vietnam, for leading the veteran pinning ceremony. Ted was also presented with a beautiful handmade quilt created by the Quilts of Valor Foundation.

Thank you so much, Ted, for your service and dedication to our country. ❤️🇺🇸💙

We loved celebrating our client John’s 67th birthday today at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community! 🥳❤️🥳

John spent most of the party with his familiar furry friend Sandy happily on his lap — he calls her “The Baby” and it’s clear the love is completely mutual. Holistic Hearts Foundation’s Music Therapist Hsin-Yi played “Happy Birthday” on the guitar while we all sang and John chose a cookies & cream cupcake — which he absolutely loved.

John shared that he worked for the Omaha World-Herald for 23 years and said he truly misses the busyness of working and being around so many different people. He also told us he dreams of going to the casino someday — “Just for fun!” 😉

It was especially wonderful to see John shake the tambourine to “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” while Hsin-Yi played guitar and the group sang along. Before the party wrapped up, John looked around and said, “God bless all of you” for celebrating him. It was truly OUR delight to celebrate John and we wish him the happiest of birthdays! 🎂

It’s never too late to have your first birthday party.

Today at Rose Blumkin Jewish Home, we celebrated our client Ed’s 🎉 9️⃣0️⃣th 🎉 birthday and we learned something truly special … this was the first birthday party he’s ever had!

Ed’s nephew Don joined us to celebrate and share stories from Ed’s life. A South Omaha native, Ed worked in the stockyards alongside his dad, later spending many years with Procter & Gamble. Along the way, he developed a love for antiques.

“My parents went to auctions every Sunday so I guess that’s where I learned it,” Ed told us.
“I learned more from antiques than I did from going to school.”

Ed shared so many wonderful stories — about antiques, his family, and a life well-lived — including one about a political button he bought for 50 cents. It was a Cox campaign button from the only election Franklin D. Roosevelt ever lost when he ran for vice president with James Cox in 1920. Ed told us he later sold that button for $1,000.

It really was such an honor to listen, learn, and celebrate Ed today at his first birthday party ever! Happy 90th birthday, Ed! 🎈🥳🎁
