Elkin First United Methodist Church Preschool is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the whole child—physically, emotionally, socially, cognitively, and spiritually. Guided by our Christian mission, we provide a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace while being supported by highly trained, compassionate educators. Our developmental goals include:

💛 play-based learning as an essential instructional strategy.
💛 safe, clean, and caring classrooms that foster creativity and curiosity.
💛 children for a confident and successful transition to kindergarten. We believe that every child is a unique creation of God and is deeply loved. Our daily activities reflect this belief through Bible stories, scripture memorization, songs of praise, prayers, and blessings. The loving example of Christian living—demonstrated by our staff—is an integral part of the curriculum. All teachers at EFUMC Preschool are trained in Early Childhood Education, CPR, and First Aid, ensuring both a high standard of care and quality instruction. Program Options
Three-Day Program (Tues.–Thurs., 9:00 am–1:00 pm)
• Infants – Threes: $200/month
• Kindergarten Readiness: $215/month

Four-Day Program (Mon.–Thurs., 9:00 am–1:00 pm)
• Infants – Threes: $225/month
• Kindergarten Readiness: $240/month

Christmas break was wonderful, but we were all ready to be back! What a great week at preschool.

Each year is different, and you never quite know how the transition back will go, but we were greeted with lots of happy smiles and big hugs. We celebrated a few birthdays and welcomed a couple of new faces.

The Lord continued to bless us with beautiful weather, allowing us to spend plenty of time outside catching up with friends. Some classes even got to play in the snow and make… well, melted snowmen! ❄️😊
All in all, it truly was a great week.

We have had a wonderful busy week at EFUMCP. This is just a small glimpse of all the fun we have had.

Good morning parents and families!

These past few days at preschool have been filled with so much joy— with Christmas spirit, love, laughter, and sweet moments together. The teachers and I are beyond thankful for your kindness, encouragement, and continued support. We truly feel so loved and blessed by each of you this Christmas season.

As we celebrate Christmas, we are reminded of the true reason for the season. God, in His great love, gave us His Son. Jesus came to earth as a child—for you and for me—so that we might know His love, grace, and salvation.
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given.” (Isaiah 9:6)

Thank you for walking alongside us and allowing us to share in the joyful work of teaching and caring for your children. Your generosity, prayers, and encouragement mean more than words can express.

It’s official—Christmas Break is here!
We hope your families have a very Merry Christmas as you celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and a Happy New Year. We will miss you over the next two weeks, but we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday, January 6th.

Due to the unpredictable weather last weekend, we had to cancel our staff Christmas party. That very same day, we were blessed by two sweet preschool families who reached out and asked if they could provide lunch for our teachers as a way to show appreciation and wish them a Merry Christmas.

What was meant to be a simple lunch turned into the most perfect Christmas celebration. Yesterday, we gathered together, enjoyed a delicious meal, shared lots of laughter, and even played a fun game of musical presents. It was such a joyful and meaningful time of fellowship.

We are so thankful for the sweet families who provided lunch, and all our students and families.

I am beyond blessed to work alongside these incredible individuals. They truly love the Lord, love one another, and have the biggest hearts for our students and their families. Each of them carries a servant’s heart that overflows into the classroom, reflecting Christ’s love in everything they do.

Our preschool is better because of them, and I am so thankful for this amazing team.

There is nothing quite like seeing your students truly enjoying their time in the classroom—until you see and hear the joy in their hearts as they retell the true meaning of Christmas, Christ’s birth, during center time. ❤️

Our students had several opportunities this week to hear, interact with, learn about, and begin to understand the true meaning of Christmas. Watching them engage with the story of Jesus—asking questions, sharing what they’ve learned, and speaking His name with excitement—has been such a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.

No amount of education will ever take priority over sharing the Gospel and the truth of the baby born in a manger—Jesus, the one true King, who came to save the world from all our sins and unrighteousness.

This is the heart of our program, and it is a privilege to share this truth with these sweet little ones.

Good Evening Parents and Families,
We are so excited to get back to our normal routine tomorrow! We have missed you all and can’t wait to see those sweet little faces again.

Although temperatures will be warmer than they have been, it will still be chilly — especially with the wind. Our students will go outside for the last 30 minutes of the day. Please be sure to send your child with warm, easy on/off layers that are labeled to help prevent anything from getting misplaced.

If you prefer for your child not to go outside, please plan to pick them up early, prior to 12:30pm.

Due to the below freezing temperatures and chance of ice on the roads tomorrow, Elkin First United Methodist Church Preschool will be closed.
EFUMCP follows Elkin City Schools’ weather policy and safety procedures to ensure the well-being of all our students, families, and staff.
We appreciate your understanding, as many of our teachers will also have their own children home tomorrow, and our priority is to make sure that families and staff can stay safe, warm, and cared for during the day.
We hope you enjoy this unexpected winter break ❄️
