Today, EFUMC Preschool had the privilege of hosting a special visit from Elkin High School, Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) John Jenkins, Senior Army Instructor, and Master Sergeant (MSG) John Hawkins, Army Instructor.
In Honor of Veterans Day, the JROTC students—known as Cadets—led a beautiful and meaningful presentation of the colors for our preschoolers. Not only did the Cadets demonstrate great respect and precision, but they also included our students in the ceremony, allowing them to participate and learn about honor, patriotism, and respect for our nation’s flag.
It was a wonderful learning experience for our preschoolers and a great reminder of the importance of service, leadership, and community. We are so thankful to Lieutenant Colonel Jenkins, Master Sergeant Hawkins, and the JROTC Cadets for taking the time to share this special moment with us. 🇺🇸💛

🇺🇸 Meaning of the American Flag
Colors
Each color of the flag has deep symbolism:

❤️ Red — Represents valor and bravery, honoring those who have fought and sacrificed for our country.

🤍 White — Symbolizes purity and innocence, reflecting the nation’s founding ideals and moral character.

💙 Blue — Stands for vigilance, perseverance, and justice, reminding us to remain steadfast and fair in protecting freedom.

Stars and Stripes ⭐️ 🇱🇷
50 Stars — Represent the 50 states of the United States of America.

The stars are white to symbolize hope and truth, set against the blue field of justice.

13 Stripes — Represent the original 13 colonies that declared independence from Great Britain.

The 7 red stripes stand for strength and sacrifice.

The 6 white stripes represent purity and unity.

Good Afternoon Families,

We are so excited to officially welcome Mrs. Chelsea and Ms. Maegan Warren back to the classroom this week! Over the past few weeks, they’ve been in and out of the classrooms so the students could get familiar and comfortable around them, and I have no doubt that their transition back will be seamless.

I will continue to be in and out of the classrooms regularly and will be there each morning to welcome our students and help start the day.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself, Mrs. Chelsea, or Ms. Maegan. We’re always happy to sit down and talk with you at any time.

Good Evening Parents and Families,
It looks like the rain will continue through Wednesday this week. We will plan for one car line under the shelter for both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up on Tuesday and Wednesday.
If the rain tapers off during drop-off or pick up, please keep an eye out for a teacher who may flag you around to begin two car lines. We’ll adjust as needed to keep things moving smoothly.
Rainy weeks always make car line a little tricky, so we truly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to get everyone through safely and efficiently. If possible, please have your child unbuckled and ready to exit when you pull up for drop off — that helps speed up the process for everyone.☔

Looks like Mrs. Hannah and Mrs. Angie's class has some competition. Mrs. Lori and Mr. Caid's class is currently taking the lead, almost filling up their first can. Don't forget to send in your pennies to help support our Preschool and help your child's classroom win the Pizza and Ice cream party.

We are truly blessed with a wonderful community that cares deeply for the children in our area! October has been a busy and exciting month as we’ve celebrated Community Connections with lots of special visits and field trips. We kicked things off with Mrs. Janey from the Elkin Public Library, followed by a trip to New Castle Farms where we visited their pumpkin patch and met one of our local farmers. Our adventures continued with a visit from Firefighter William of the Elkin Fire Department, and this week we've had the pleasure of meeting Troopers Brandon and Chase from local law enforcement. Today, we wrapped up our visits with two amazing local nurses, Nurse Sam and Nurse Shyanne. We are so thankful for our community heroes and all they do for our students, families, and the extended community! Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy days to spend a few minutes with us here at Elkin FUMC Preschool.

Happiest of Birthdays to Miss Ronda, one of our Terrific Threes Teachers and Ms. Maegan Warren, one of our Outstanding Toddler Teachers. We are so blessed to have them both as part of our Elkin FUMC Preschool family. Help me wish them a Happy Birthday. 🎂
