The Health Department serves the largest county of the 55 located in our state. REHD has been providing health promotion and disease prevention for more than 50 years and is an integral member of the Randolph County health care team which provides leadership, education, collaboration, and networking to/with other health care providers. It is an organization of specially trained persons whose one p

urpose is to serve the public health needs of the community; protecting its citizens against diseases and promoting health. The health department is comprised of multiple programs, some well-known and others that many are unaware of. These programs include: immunizations, Family Planning Program, WV Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program, environmental services, confidential STD Testing, free pregnancy tests, and many more different services. Listed below is a more in depth description of what each program has to offer! Immunizations: The health department has 3 certified nurses on hand that give immunizations every Tuesday from 1-4, Wednesday and Thursday from 3-4 (exception: No immunizations the second Thursday of every month due to all day clinics). All immunizations are walk-ins during the stated hours, but appointments are also accepted if you cannot make it during the walk-in times. Immunizations are provided at no cost for all people 18 years and under. Also, for adults, we have some free and low cost vaccines available. Family Planning Program: The Family Planning Program is a unique program created to keep young men and women informed and safe. This program offers free to very low cost physicals, PAP tests, and breast exams. Along with the exam, different methods of contraception are offered to the patient. The Family Planning Program is a great way for every person at every age and income level to stay healthy and informed about his/her health. Exams are given on clinic days decided by the nurses and P.A. WVBCCSP: The West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Program is a program for women between 25 and 64 to have annual breast exams, PAP tests, and mammograms if eligible. This program like family planning is free or at low cost to the patient. This program is a great way for older women to stay healthy and learn better lifestyle choices that could enable them to live longer lives. Another part of BCCSP is the Wise Woman Program. This is an additional program that some women decide to join to help further monitor their lifestyle choices in order to assure better health. STD Testing: STD testing is another program we offer for any person who wants tested. The test is completed at no charge to the patient and is kept extremely confidential. All testing is appointment based. Pregnancy Tests: Pregnancy tests are also given free to any woman. All testing is appointment based as well. Environmental Services: Environmental services include store/restaurant permits. The health department has a registered sanitarian that travels around the county doing inspections to ensure that all restaurants, hotels, motels, and retail shops are running in good condition. Group Presentations: The health department also travels around to different clubs, schools, agencies, etc. to do presentations. Topics could include STD awareness, immunization information, or any other topic that pertains to the services offered at the health department. Call us at 636-0396 to get further information.
