People think going to a Chiropractor is just getting “cracked”. Here is what to expect from a Chiropractic visit to our office:

• Will evaluate any musculoskeletal condition and determine whether it is something that can be treated at our office or needs to be referred to another medical professional for further evaluation. We make the appropriate referral as needed, kinda acting like the quarterback (had to include a sports analogy😊) We work with a great team of medical professionals!
• Refer for any imaging if needed
• Once it is determined we can help, will explain and treat as appropriate, offering some of the following but NOT always the same:
• Chiropractic adjustments - we do not ALWAYS adjust, and there are many different techniques if we feel it is needed
• Various physical therapy modalities, including but not limited to heat, ice, muscle stimulation, ultrasound
• Various soft tissue techniques including muscle release techniques (myofascial release), GRASTON (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization), etc.
• Exercises both in office and for home – patients need to be able to do things for themselves daily
• Dry Needling - All of our doctors are certified
• Discuss other home recommendations, nutritional support

Many people don’t realize we do ALL of these things in our office, so wanted to make sure everyone is aware. Most chiropractors do many of these as well. There are still times when I see and hear that people think all we do is “crack bones”, especially with wonderful world of social media and tiktok videos.

Have a great Wednesday.

Stress fractures are very common in College Athletics, and supplementing Vitamin D is easy and cheap! Always makes sure to take Vitamin D with K2 to help with getting calcium into the bones!

"Conclusion: This study shows that vitamin D supplementation reduces the incidence of BSI in collegiate athletes, although not significantly so. Further studies are needed to characterize whether vitamin D supplementation can reduce fractures in collegiate athletes."

Today is one of those days you realize how lucky you are! Just finished posting grades concluding my 17th year of teaching. Some days you can forget how rewarding it is to be able to help students in their career ambitions, and know you are making a difference. Got numerous emails from students thanking me for this semester, where I should be thanking them for making my teaching job fun.

I am truly blessed to be able to not only teach students, but also able to help patients every day. Don't take anything for granted, a good lesson to always revisit.

All 4 of our docs do dry needling. A great option, another tool in the toolbox to help patients!

"Conclusion: The results of this study showed that both therapies effectively reduced LBP. When comparing the effects of spinal manipulation alone to those of spinal manipulation combined with DN, the latter showed significantly greater benefits."

Another good study showing the effectiveness of chiropractic combined with dry needling.

"Conclusion: Taking DHA supplements after a diagnosis of threatened preterm pregnancy does not decrease the actual rates of early or late preterm births. To reduce the risk of premature birth, DHA should be taken from the beginning of pregnancy, with a recommendation to start in the first trimester. This should ideally start in the second trimester, no later than around 20 weeks of gestation, and should continue until childbirth or approximately 37 weeks of gestation."

DHA and EPA are both the functional components of fish oil supplementation. Remember you have to read the label to make sure you are getting a good quality supplement. There should be a breakdown of EPA and DHA, and you want to make sure you are getting about 1 gram of EPA and 750 mg of DHA per day.

For anyone who experiences a concussion or has and has residual symptoms, a "no brainer" supplement regime is:

1. Omega 3 fatty acids specifically DHA 750 mg - 1 gram

2. Magnesium 400 mg (brain loses 50 percent of magensium immediately after concussion)

3. Creatine monohydrate 5 grams (5% of creatine stored in the brain. One of the reason people get so tired after is can't produce enough ATP in the brain for energy and healing, creatine helps this!)

4. Turmeric 1 gram (neuroantiinflammatory)

All per day

So the question is if this is good for the injured brain, how about our brains, aging brains etc? Absolutely!!!

Chiropractic Newsletter February 2025 How Chiropractors Help Athletes Stay Active
How Chiropractors Help Athletes Stay Active

Whether you’re a professional athlete or someone who enjoys staying active through sports and fitness, chiropractic care can play a vital role in keeping you healthy, comfortable, and resilient. At its core, chiropractic care focuses on optimizing the function of your neuromusculoskeletal system, the system put to the test by athletic performance and recovery.

In this month’s newsletter, we’ll discuss how chiropractic care benefits athletes, including regular maintenance care, injury recovery therapy, and guidance for maintaining an active lifestyle.

Chiropractic Maintenance Care: Keeping You in Top Form
Regular chiropractic maintenance care is essential for athletes of all levels. Proactively ensuring that your spine and joints stay properly aligned reduces wear and tear on your body and helps prevent minor issues from developing into larger problems. Misalignments in the skeletal frame, even when they don’t cause pain, can restrict mobility, weaken muscle function, and increase your risk of injury.

With regular adjustments, chiropractors help athletes maintain optimal alignment and balance. This can improve flexibility, coordination, and even your body’s natural ability to recover after intense workouts or competitions. Think of chiropractic maintenance care as a foundation for long-term injury prevention.

Recovery Therapy for Sports Injuries
Despite taking precautions, injuries are sometimes unavoidable in sports and fitness. Chiropractic care is highly effective at helping athletes recover from common setbacks such as sprains, strains, muscle imbalances, and joint injuries.

Chiropractors use a combination of techniques for injury care, such as spinal adjustments, extremity adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and rehabilitative exercises. These treatments help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and restore mobility while putting your body in the best position to heal itself without nerve interference or continued wear.

In addition to hands-on techniques, chiropractors may incorporate modalities like electrical
