Pneumothoraxes or lung punctures are extremely rare when needling is performed by a highly trained and licensed Acupuncturist. We have thousands of hours of fundamental and clinical training. The label of “Dry needling” originated as an Acupuncture technique to differentiate and separate itself for the use of other professions outside of Acupuncture. Without foundational education in anatomy, needle depth, and positioning of a needle in relationship to the areas surrounding the lungs, other practitioners are putting people at unnecessary risk.

This unfortunate incident could have been avoided and now it has affected more than the player, himself.

How do you honor the ancestors in your life? Especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice?

Everyday, I make sure to take care of myself by meditating, exercising, eating right, learning something new, sharing love and kindness towards others, and doing my best to make the world a better place. I’m always a work in progress to become a much better version of myself. I have even chosen the path to help others do the same. I hope my grandparents, aunts and uncles, and those I’ve never even met, are looking down saying “Good job, keep going, and thank you!”.
