Recently, we celebrated National Police and Public Safety Week by recognizing outstanding members of our Public Safety, EMS, and Emergency Communications teams at our Cecil County campus.

These dedicated caregivers work around the clock to help keep our patients, visitors, and fellow caregivers safe while providing critical emergency response and support services throughout our health system.

Local providers, community organizations, and community partners are invited to join the next ChristianaCare Union Hospital Community Education Series focused on strengthening community resources and improving access to care for our neighbors throughout Cecil County and beyond. 💙

This collaborative educational session will explore practical strategies to reduce barriers to care, improve health outcomes, decrease no-show rates and increase awareness and utilization of available community services.

Special guest speakers from the Cecil County Health Department will join the discussion.

Beep Beep! 🏫🚑🚓💛🚜🐕 ChristianaCare Union Hospital had the opportunity to participate in Chesapeake City Elementary School’s “Careers on Wheels” event, and what an incredible day it was! Students had the chance to explore a variety of careers and learn more about key roles in healthcare and emergency services.

A special thank you to the amazing staff at Chesapeake City Elementary School for inviting us to be part of such a fun and impactful event. The students were full of excitement, curiosity, and great questions all day long.

We know the Family Birth Center at Union Hospital has been an important service for the Cecil County community. After careful review, ChristianaCare has made the difficult decision to close labor and delivery services at Union Hospital effective June 30, 2026.

This decision reflects long-term changes in community health needs, including lower birth volumes, as well as increasing challenges in recruiting specialized providers for labor and delivery care.

Prenatal and postpartum care will continue locally through ChristianaCare's outpatient obstetrics & gynecology outpatient practice in Elkton. Patients with questions should contact their provider or call ChristianaCare Obstetrics & Gynecology at 443-245-7377.

In accordance with this planned closure, ChristianaCare will host a community information meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Comfort Inn & Suites, 1 Center Dr., North East, MD, 21901. The public is invited, and representatives of Union Hospital will be in attendance.
