Feeling worried from time to time is a normal part of life. Stress before a big event or uncertainty about the future can even help motivate us. But how do you know when worry becomes something more?

Occasional worry tends to pass once a situation resolves. An anxiety disorder, however, involves persistent, excessive fear or nervousness that is difficult to control and begins to interfere with daily life.

Signs it may be more than normal worry include:
• Feeling constantly on edge
• Trouble sleeping
• Racing heart or physical symptoms
• Sudden panic or intense fear
• Difficulty functioning at work, school, or in relationships

If anxiety feels overwhelming or is impacting your quality of life, you’re not alone — and support is available. Talking with your primary care provider is a good first step. Effective treatments can help you regain balance and feel like yourself again.

Did you know measles is one of the most contagious illnesses known in humans? Almost everyone who is not vaccinated will get sick if exposed.

The best protection is the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Children 12 years and younger may receive the MMRV vaccine, which also protects against chickenpox.

• First dose: 12–15 months
• Second dose: 4–6 years

The vaccine is safe, effective, and helps protect your child — and your community. Call your health care provider to schedule an appointment.

Recently, leaders from ChristianaCare Union Hospital attended the State of the County Breakfast alongside Cecil County Executive Adam Streight and community stakeholders from across the region.

Events like this offer a valuable opportunity to reflect on our county’s progress, hear directly about priorities for the year ahead, and strengthen partnerships that support the health and well-being of our communities.

We appreciate the County Executive’s leadership and look forward to continued collaboration to expand access to care, advance health equity, and build a healthier future for all.

With steady snowfall expected through tonight and into tomorrow, we encourage everyone to use extra caution when clearing snow. Heavy, wet snow can put significant strain on your heart, back, and muscles.

Before you head outside:
✔️ Warm up indoors first – stretch your arms, legs, and back.
✔️ Dress in layers to stay warm and prevent muscle strain.
✔️ Push snow when possible instead of lifting.
✔️ Lift small amounts and bend at your knees, not your waist.
✔️ Take frequent breaks — don’t rush.
✔️ Stay hydrated, even in cold temperatures.

🚨 Stop immediately and call 911 if you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or unusual discomfort.

If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, or other health conditions, consider asking for help with snow removal.

Please take it slow tonight and tomorrow morning. Your health and safety come first. ❄️

Happy National Love Your Pet Day! 🐾❤️

Pet owners often describe their furry friends as beloved members of the family—and for good reason. According to a survey from the American Heart Association, 95% of pet parents say they rely on their pets for stress relief. Companion animals also offer important mental and physical benefits that are good for the heart, including helping lower blood pressure and supporting cardiovascular health through regular walks and activity.

Our caregivers especially love visits from the incredible therapy dogs of PAWS for People during our monthly PAWS to De-Stress sessions and caregiver rejuvenation stations hosted by our Center for WorkLife Wellbeing. We’re grateful to their owners for sharing these wonderful dogs and helping our caregivers relax, recharge, and decompress. 💙
