The Cole Varnum Agency donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) & a glass mountable case to Power Alley Fitness & Tanning in Ellaville this past weekend. The new gym owners, Preston & Haley Stewart, along with one of their staff members also received CPR & AED training from Jarrod Wall that evening.

Should a cardiac event occur, they are now prepared to take quick action and render aid until Emergency Medical Professionals arrive.

An Automated external defibrillator is a device that analyzes the heart and if it detects a problem may deliver a shock to restart the heart’s normal rhythm.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a life-threatening emergency that occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating. It affects people of all ages who may seem to be healthy, even children and teens. SCA leads to death in minutes if the person does not get help right away. Survival depends on people nearby calling 911, starting CPR and using an AED as soon as possible.
