We were honored to welcome Senator Patty Murray to Kittitas Valley Healthcare this week for a thoughtful conversation about the realities of rural healthcare and the people who make it possible every day.

During her visit, Senator Murray met with frontline staff and providers, toured our hospital including the Family Birthing Place, and saw firsthand the Surgical Services renovation project made possible in part through $2.26 million in federal appropriations she helped secure for KVH. Those funds allowed us to renovate spaces supporting General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedics, and newly added Podiatry services, helping expand access to care close to home for our community.

We are grateful for leaders who take the time to visit rural communities, listen to frontline caregivers, and better understand both the challenges and the incredible commitment that define healthcare in places like Kittitas County.

Thank you, Senator Murray, for spending time with our team and our community.

In May, we turn our focus to maternal sepsis, a leading cause of maternal death around the world.

Too many lives are lost, and too many survivors face long recoveries, simply because the signs of sepsis go unrecognized or unaddressed.

Maternal Sepsis Week (May 10–16, 2025) is a time to raise awareness, demand change, and take action to protect mothers and birthing people before, during, and after childbirth.

This month, we advocate for better education, stronger protocols, and a healthcare system that listens and responds!

Learn more about maternal sepsis and how you can get involved this month at MaternalSepsisWeek.org.
