I provide concierge psychiatric treatment to adults struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, mood disorders, and much more. My services are available in-person and online to Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania residents. In some cases, we will need to meet in person for our first appointment. My services include evaluations, medication management, and brief therapy when needed.

In treatment, we will look at you as a whole person and can coordinate with your medical team or family to provide treatment that serves your wellness goals. I see patients for EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and CBT-based therapy (cognitive behavioral therapy) as a supplement to the psychiatric care that I provide. Psychiatric treatment is available in English and Portuguese.

đź’Š Common Myths About Psychiatry

Considering psychiatric care? Let’s talk about some of the most common myths.
🔹 Myth 1: Seeing a psychiatrist means you are unstable.
Truth: Many people seek psychiatric support to manage anxiety, ADHD, depression, sleep issues, or stress. It is about improving functioning and well-being.
🔹 Myth 2: Psychiatrists only prescribe medication.
Truth: Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can offer diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing support. Medication is just one part of the conversation.
🔹 Myth 3: Psychiatric medication changes your personality.
Truth: The goal is not to change who you are but to help you feel more like yourself again. When prescribed and monitored properly, medication can improve clarity and emotional balance.
🔹 Myth 4: You will be on medication forever.
Truth: Treatment plans are individualized. Some people use medication short-term, others long-term. What matters is what works best for you.
Psychiatric care is about understanding the whole person and finding the right path forward.

Mental load vs. emotional labor

Mental load refers to the ongoing cognitive effort of tracking tasks, managing schedules, and planning ahead. Emotional labor involves the effort of regulating emotions, maintaining harmony, and supporting others emotionally.

Both forms of invisible labor can contribute to chronic stress, anxiety, and burnout—especially in caregivers, parents, and professionals.

In psychiatric care, it is important to explore how these stressors may be contributing to a patient's symptoms and functioning. Supporting insight and self-advocacy around these roles can be a meaningful part of the treatment process.

📌 How to Know If Your Psychiatrist Is the Right Fit

Beginning psychiatric care is a meaningful step toward improving your mental health. Working with the right psychiatrist can help you feel more supported and more understood.

Here are a few signs your psychiatrist might be a good fit:

✅ You feel comfortable sharing openly, even when it’s difficult
✅ You don’t feel judged, rushed, or dismissed
âś… They take the time to understand your concerns and goals
âś… You leave appointments with clarity about next steps
âś… Your psychiatrist is open to questions and welcomes your input

Psychiatric care should feel respectful, thoughtful, and tailored to your needs. If something feels off or you do not feel heard, it is okay to talk about it or explore other options.

🧠 You deserve care that helps you feel safe, informed, and empowered.

Healing doesn’t always come with fireworks. It often looks quiet, slow, and maybe even invisible to others.
It’s getting out of bed on a hard day.
It’s taking a deep breath before reacting.
It’s noticing a critical thought, but choosing not to believe it.
It’s setting one small boundary that used to feel impossible.

Progress isn’t always loud or linear. Sometimes it’s choosing something different; something kinder, just once. And that once matters.

The small moments you often dismiss? They are signs of growth. They are you, healing in real time. đź’›

When emotions are high, in our families, our feeds, or the news, it’s easy to feel flooded.
You might notice your heart racing after scrolling, or find yourself carrying tension from a conversation hours after it ended. Maybe you’re reacting more strongly than usual, snapping at someone you love, or shutting down when things get heated. That’s not weakness, that’s your nervous system doing its best to protect you.

In a world that often demands instant opinions, quick replies, and constant engagement, therapy offers something different:
A pause. A place to breathe. A space where you can untangle what’s yours from what you’ve absorbed.

You don’t have to carry everything alone or figure it all out in real time.

Therapy helps you process what you’re holding so you can respond with intention, rather than react from overload.

Over time, you can build tools to regulate, set boundaries, and find clarity in the midst of emotional noise, both online and off.

Let’s talk about emotional regulation.

A lot of people think it means staying calm all the time. Or not getting upset.
But that’s not it.

Emotional regulation is about knowing what you're feeling and choosing how to respond.

It's the difference between reacting in the moment...
and taking a breath before you speak.

It’s giving yourself space to feel without needing to fix, avoid, or explode.

You don’t have to ignore your emotions to manage them.
You just need to listen to them differently.

What helps you regulate when emotions feel big?
Is it movement, music, deep breathing, stepping away?
Let’s share! someone might need your input today.

What do you wish you knew about mental health when you were younger?

Maybe no one told you that struggling didn’t mean you were weak. That anxiety wasn’t a flaw in your character. That rest is not something you have to earn. That your emotions weren’t “too much”, they were simply human.

You might have felt like you had to keep it together for everyone else. Maybe you learned to hide your pain, to stay quiet, to push through. But you didn’t have to. And you still don’t.

What would you tell your younger self about mental health, if you had the chance?

Share it below. Your words might be exactly what someone else needs to hear today.

*What Therapy Is (and Isn’t)*

Therapy isn’t just venting about your week.

It’s not just advice-giving, or someone telling you what to do.

And it’s definitely not only for people in crisis.

Therapy is a collaborative process: an intentional space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, patterns, and experiences with support and care.

It’s a place to:

- Understand the “why” behind your reactions

- Develop healthier coping strategies

- Heal old wounds that still affect you today

Learn how to show up more fully in your relationships and in your life

You don’t have to wait for things to get worse.
You don’t have to go through it alone.

Mental health is like a painting.

Each person holds their own palette and some days filled with bold color, other days blurred in shadow. The brushstrokes of our experiences are layered with joy, pain, resilience, and doubt. No two canvases are alike.

Sometimes, the picture others see isn’t the one we meant to paint.
Sometimes, even we don’t understand what’s taking shape.

But that doesn’t mean the art is wrong, it just means it’s time to pause, reflect, and maybe ask for guidance with the next stroke.

Therapy is a place to step back, reconnect with your vision, and keep painting with intention.

You are not alone. Support is here. Reach out today.
