Howard County Executive Calvin Ball just released an update on our county's COVID-19 vaccination status and things are looking better and better each day!
We want to do our part in echoing his call to action to get Maryland fully vaccinated! Check out MassVax.Maryland.gov for more information.
"In Howard County, 15% of African American residents are fully vaccinated, 17% of Asian American residents are fully vaccinated, and 4% of Hispanic residents are fully vaccinated. African American and Asian American residents make up 18% of Howard County's population, and Hispanic residents account for 7% of our population.
Last week, the CDC and FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine for our youth ages 12-15. For many of our residents who are eager to get their children vaccinated, the Mall in Columbia is mostly administering the Pfizer vaccine.
You can find a vaccine clinic near you by visiting Vaccine.howardcountymd.gov or schedule an appointment at a mass vaccination site managed by the State by visiting MassVax.Maryland.gov or calling 1 (855) MD-GOVAX.
We must continue our work to get all our eligible residents vaccinated. While the mask mandate has been lifted across the state, I encourage residents to continue the safety measures we have become accustomed to - wash your hands, practice physical distance, and please get vaccinated if you haven't already.
We're all safer when more people get vaccinated. We need everyone to do everything possible to get our friends and families vaccinated so we can end this pandemic together.
Stay well, and get vaccinated!
Calvin Ball
