Really enjoyed getting an inside look at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center this morning thanks to their Visionary Council. It’s impressive to see the continued investment in our community, from improving ER wait times to expanding services for older adults and increasing access to behavioral health support.

We also had the opportunity to do a hard hat tour of the new 29 bed Observation Unit, which was a great firsthand look at how the hospital is expanding capacity and improving patient flow.

Their geriatric emergency care certification was especially meaningful to see. It’s clear there is a strong focus on supporting the needs of older adults here in Howard County.

This gathering marked our 14th anniversary of hosting Memory Café alongside the Office on Aging, and we’re excited to kick off our 15th year.

Huge congratulations to our amazing Howard County team for reaching new milestones and achieving the highest percentage growth across all three offices for 2025! 🎉
They faced peak growth while short-staffed, yet came together, worked hard and made sure everything got done. Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork truly paid off, and we couldn’t be more proud of what they accomplished.
We celebrated this well-deserved win at the beautiful Xenia restaurant—such a fun night for an incredible team and year. Here’s to even more success ahead!

Congratulations to the Howard County Office on Aging for officially joining the Dementia Friendly America network, an important step in strengthening our community’s support for residents living with dementia and those who care for them.

This morning’s ceremony marked the announcement of this important initiative and highlighted the continued commitment to building a more supportive and inclusive community.

Dementia Friendly America is all about helping communities become places where people with dementia and their care partners can feel safe, supported, and continue to stay engaged.

Always a great event!

We are sending the biggest, warmest thank you to the Rotary Club of Columbia/Patuxent for sponsoring the most beautiful Moonlight Memories Date Night last week. Because of their kindness, individuals living with dementia and their families were able to step into an evening filled with love, laughter, and connection.

There was so much joy to go around—couples swaying on the dance floor, smiles glowing in the photo booth, and everyone savoring delicious, sweet treats from Right at Home of Howard County and refreshing sips from Sobar. Seeing the love between partners and families light up the room was truly something special.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped fill the evening with light. Stay tuned—more sweet memories from the night will be shared on the Winter Growth website and in our newsletters.
