A few weeks ago, I was chatting with a dance friend/colleague after taking ballet class together, and she gave me the BEST compliment.
She told me that when I’m dancing, it really looks like I am partnering WITH my body, rather than FIGHTING against it.
I loved hearing this because I’ve been practicing the skill of making my body a trusted partner for the last several years, and this concept is at the heart of all the work I do.
When I’m teaching the Franklin Method, I’m helping my students understand more about how they are designed to move and function with ease and efficiency.
My coaching clients learn how to truly tune into themselves and TRUST the information that comes from within, and take action on it to change their lives.
So you can imagine that I was absolutely beaming from the inside out with this complement!
BUT…I haven’t always been this way.
I used to be a champ at ignoring my body. Pushing way past my limits, not resting enough, and feeling like my body was the enemy when it wasn’t doing what I wanted it to.
I blamed IT when I had an injury and thought it was just weak when I was exhausted. Judging it when I wasn’t able to perform the way I wanted to.
When I woke up with a neck tweak? “Ugh my stupid body can’t even sleep right! Now I have to fight through my day with this pain!”
I would push hard, do the bare minimum to help it recover, and then be mad at it when it let me down.
In fact, conventional wisdom tells us that THIS is the path to success.
But it’s not sustainable. Or pleasant for that matter!
Luckily there is another way to be….
When you learn to partner with your body all kinds of magical things can happen.
You trust yourself more.
Have more confidence.
You don’t get stuck spinning in indecision.
You feel lighter and move through your day with so much more ease. Not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well.
All in all, you get back to being YOU!
I’ve learned how to do it for myself, and I can help you do it too.
Send me a DM to find out more.
