Our Story
The THRIVE Center was founded 11 years ago by Rick Silver, MD and Rose Cohen, PhD. Originally developed to provide “one stop shopping” for all ADHD services, THRIVE has evolved into an outpatient specialty center for young adults struggling to make the transition to independent adulthood. Now renamed the THRIVE Center for Emerging Young Adults, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of both young adults and their parents as they learn the life skills and emotional competencies needed to creatively adapt to the demands of adulthood.
Rick and Rose draw their expertise not only from their professional experience (30+ years), but from raising three daughters, two of whom have ADHD and learning disabilities. Guiding the neuroatypical child from struggle to success has been their passion, and THRIVE fills the gap that they found in intensive, customized and coordinated services for this challenging group of young adults and their families.
THRIVE’s services are unique in that they are provided by a tightly coordinated team of mental health and educational professionals that run peer groups, work closely with parents and offer an intensive case management approach that monitors and support the young adult and their parents between scheduled sessions.
Groups for the young adult include therapy/support, social confidence, life skills training, emotional self-regulation/DBT, substance education and parent support. Individual services include psychiatric assessments, job skills coaching, executive function coaching, individual therapy, parent skills training, medication management, nutrition therapy and mental health paraprofessional peer counseling sessions.
