Healing with Acupuncture by Jeanene Kleinman Jeanene Kleinman, MAc is a Board Certified Licensed Acupuncturist. Her training integrates both Eastern and Western Medicine. Contact me for available hours.

I am a graduate of the Master of Acupuncture (MAc) program at Tai Sophia Institute, Center for Healing Arts. Their new name is MUIH (Maryland University of Integrative Health). Message me for information if you are curious about this ancient medicine and how this healing philosophy works. Through thousands of years of observing nature, and how it changes within and outside of our bodies, this amazing system of medicine has been developed. Acupuncture supports the smooth flow of energy in our bodies, and allows our natural processes to do all of the healing. It literally initiates or facilitates healing from within because nothing is injected or ingested, but rather, it's a gentle form of medicine giving us the opportunity to do what we do best. One way to look at it is an extremely detailed and precise form of acupressure. The needles are not sharp; they do not cut the tissue, they press into the tissue. These tiny, thin needles are rounded at the ends, with a solid sphere at the tip and they are solid, not hollow. Learning all about this medicine and how it works is a gift and I feel honored to practice Acupuncture. I believe that in our modern world, now more than ever, our society needs this ancient medicine because it is a simple, effective (and cost effective) form of healing. I worked for 12 years in the Western medical field prior to studying Acupuncture, as an Emergency Medical Technician and as a medical research program coordinator, and later as a Physical Therapist’s Assistant. After entering the Doctoral program in Physical Therapy I tried Acupuncture. I'm looking forward to talking to you about any questions you might have. I was a complete skeptic until I tried Acupuncture for myself! The World Health Organization (WHO) has endorsed Acupuncture as effective for treating several conditions including insomnia, digestive issues, headaches, fatigue, back pain, arthritis, nausea, stress, and anxiety. For a complete list, go to http://apps.who.int/medicinedocs/en/d/Js4926e/5.html. I am a small business owner and treat all of my clients by appointment only.

Some wisdom about the energetics of summertime:

In the summer season DESIRE is the main cause of disease / upset of the body and mind.

The heat generated from too much DESIRE, intense emotions, or pleasure seeking, can speed up our movements so much that our spirit can be disturbed and lose its footing/ grounding. 🫨….

Leaving us scattered and disoriented.

When it’s hot outside 🌞, we need to be cool 🌬️ inside our hearts and minds.

Thanks to my colleague Dex for sharing this succinctly. 💙

Winter thoughts from Katherine May’s “Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times”

‘Plants and animals do not fight the winter; they don’t pretend it’s not happening and attempt to carry on living the same lives that they lived in the summer. They prepare. They adapt. They perform extraordinary acts of metamorphosis to get them through. Winter is a time of withdrawing from the world, maximising scant resources, carrying out acts of brutal efficiency and vanishing from sight; but that’s where the transformation occurs. Winter is not the death of the life cycle, but its crucible.’

After a long day, once the kids were asleep, Mike and I sat in our favorite lawn chairs tonight and I had this same thought as we chatted . . .

Taking a second to just sit and enjoy this amazing weather m especially at night when the stars are visible is so comforting in my soul 💖

‘Leveraging Springtime Energy”

It may not always feel like it, as it may feel like we are still in Winter, but we are transitioning into the Spring season here in the mid-Atlantic area. Springtime is the season of new beginnings and growth. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the seasons have a powerful symbiotic relationship with our body, mind and spirit. At the heart of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) lies the Five Element cycle which symbolizes the continuity of energy and stages of life. Each season, and its corresponding element, represents a stage of energetic motion around the 5 Element cycle. Spring, aligned with the wood element, signifies creation – birth, new growth, life and its subsequent unfolding; and with the start of Springtime energy, we are well- positioned to rebuild and renew in a way that compares to no other time of year.
