The people we support had a great time at the Spring Festival in downtown Frederick on Carrol Creek. Live entertainment, food, shopping, you name it. Plus, gorgeous spring weather! 🌺🌻

Our housing program considers living arrangements that reflect each person’s individual needs, goals, and choices. Whether it’s living independently, with roommates, or alongside family members, our Supportive Housing Services provide the supports needed to help people thrive and become valued members of their communities. Hygiene and budgeting don’t always go together, but for the people we support, they do! Participants of our Introduction to Employment (ITE) Program visited Target to identify everyday hygiene essentials, then practiced filling out deposit and withdrawal slips at the bank to build money management skills. We wrapped up the day with a fun hygiene quiz and some sunshine at the park! ☀️🌳

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We are grateful for their sacrifice and the freedoms we are able to enjoy because of their courage.

Who wants to feel like "The King of the World" at the Titanic Museum in Baltimore?? Everyone!

From exploring the exhibits to stepping into the story of one of history’s most famous voyages, the experience was both exciting and unforgettable. As Jack famously said, “Life is a gift, I don’t intend on wasting it… make each day count!” That’s exactly how the day felt: full of joy, adventure, and new experiences shared together. Carpe diem!

What a great day at Touch a Truck! 🚒🚚

Some of the staff from The Arc of Howard County and the people we support spent the day connecting with the community, sharing our mission, and talking about the services we offer. From exploring the trucks to meeting new friends, it was a fun-filled day of community, connection, and inclusion.

The people we support were out in the community again! This time they visited the post office to learn more about how it operates.📬

They explored how to return items, learned about P.O. Boxes, and practiced filling out return slips. Everyone really got the hang of it, making the experience both fun and educational. It was a great opportunity to build everyday life skills, gain confidence, and connect with the community! Where should we go next?

May is Older Americans Month. It is a time to recognize the contributions, resilience, and continued value of older adults in our communities.

At The Arc of Howard County, this month also reflects a core part of our mission. Many of the people we support are older Americans, and we are committed to coming alongside them to champion their health, dignity, and independence. We celebrate their lives and continue working to ensure they are supported, included, and able to thrive at every stage of aging.
